I have experienced tinnitus for many uears and attribute it to my military time, firing weapons and being assigned to a Navy ship where my battle station ws directly below a large gun mount. I was not in Vietnam but was at Camp Lejeuns so applied for military disability and was examined at a VA medical center for hearing loss and tinnitus. They awarded me partial disability for it and I get my hearing aids through the VA. I also get a small monthly check. I still have the ringing and difficulty hearing but I do not need to pay the exorbinant cost of hearing aids. Plus I get follow up appointments every two years to check my hearing and repacement hearing aids if needed. They do nothing to alleviate the ringing but they do help with most conversations, except in crowded areas.

A recent series of infomercials are saying there is a link between tinnitus and alzheimer's disease. This kind of makes sense as the cilia are destroyed as is the brain by plaques and tangles. Between the tinnitus and prostate I cant hear whether I am coming or going. 😳

Funny!

In addition to my tinnitus, if I press on the left side of my nose, I hear a chirp. Sometimes, it will chirp on its own. 😂

Life on earth is very entertaining.

CPAP, cataracts, knee and hip replacement, tinnitus, aren’t we boomers lucky…🤨

The guy looks frighteningly like my veterinarian.

This is just a come on for a vitamin that purports to cure tinnitus. My tinnitus only appears about 24 hours before the passage of a cold front and then disappears after the front passes.

Compared to what I have from 2 years in the second most heavily sprayed area's exposure to Agent Orange, the Tinnitus is minor, even if more annoying.

I have a Rx from the audiologist for hearing aids. And though she is with Kaiser she told me the VA health plan is better for hearing aids, at least the ones she wrote me up for that can be adjusted to help cancel out the Tinnitus a bit better.
Now I just have to get together with VA.

A couple years ago I got hearing aids from the VA. They were much better than anything I could have afforded on the private market. Last week I got an external microphone from the VA that hooks into my hearing aids via bluetooth. The microphone also hooks into the optical audio outlet on my TV. AMAZING! For the first time in many years I can listen to the TV and understand (mostly) what the news presenters are saying. I don't have to rely on close captions.

Ah, my solution was a $20 set of Blue Tooth headphones, 3 channels, one for the TV/stereo setup, one for the computer and a spare for???
