Why Do We Have 2 Birds Categories?

I notice we have a "Sub-Gallery - Birds" category "Birds in Flight" Category. Why so? Seems redundant.

Birds in Flight/Birds on Water was created in 2013 at the request of some members:

It was user-managed 'til it languished and people stopped posting there. It shows 2,353 subscribed users.

The sub-category to Photo Gallery called "Birds" is run by Admin and was separated from Gallery a couple of years ago to give more room in the Digest to each. See:

Admin subscribed everyone automatically: 108,085.

Actually, he did not. If he did, I would be a subscriber. I am not. I just verified.

What he did, I just verified the numbers, is to add all the gallery subscribers. I am not one. It explains why I am not looking at that forum either.

By the way, the bird gallery subscription is not automated. The numbers are growing slowly in the main gallery. They are static in the bird one. I also verified it.

As per the admin: "No need to subscribe to this new section, as it was enabled automatically for anyone who was subscribed to the Gallery."

I did not need to go through all this trouble.

Admin's comments, per the link I provided above: "This is done to free up the Gallery a bit and to keep bird pics all in one place."
