First let me start the story by writing I do not watch the weather or the news. Most days the only reason I leave the house is to drive our 2018 4x4 F150 the 1.8 miles or 5 minutes to the gym where I do strength and cardio. In the 5 years that I have gone to the gym we have yet to have enough snow that I can get there. There is barely enough snow to sled and cross country ski at our place.
I ordered a small item from the west coast that I had to sign off the delivery and expected it Wednesday. Early yesterday when I first look at the FED EX website for the delivery time it was scheduled for 12:50 yesterday. Mid afternoon the time was be for 8:00 PM. Later that night the site said delayed.

I then check the weather on the internet and learned many places were getting nailed with snow and Memphis was shut down.

Today the Fed EX site says delayed and predicts the package will arrive by 8:00 PM. Google says the drive time is over 8 hours. I have no idea if it will be flown or driven to the local FED EX distribution center.
This is not the first time that a package has been delayed for a winter storm. The take away from the is that "SNOW happens".

This time of year I don't expect shipping to be on time. I have a package coming from weaver leather in Ohio, Fedex didn't get for a couple of days after I ordered and the last update I received from Fedex said it was in Memphis and to expect delivery on 1/20 between noon and 8pm. With the weather back east I expect it will still be delayed. The items are not something that is needed in a hurry so I can wait.

I understand what you’re going through - I expected a package to be delivered today per the text messages I’ve been getting from FedEx - this morning I got notice it won’t be in until tomorrow. I went to their site to track my package and discovered this summary. I sure would like to know they did to make the barcode unreadable. This is a piece of electronics which I have a feeling is going to get returned due to damages.

FedEx is not very good in our area. I prefer UPS, USPS, or Amazon. All bring packages to my mailbox or the front porch except FedEx. Had a package to be delivered within a time frame last Monday. Stayed home all day. That evening get a notice from them that package would be delivered the next day. Due to weather, that I could understand. But the package was supposed to require a signature which entailed him needing to come to the front door. After the delivery time had passed I started checking their notice. Oops; there is a picture of my package by the front gate at the street (where someone driving by could grab & run with it) which is 600 feet from the house. I quickly drove up there, picked up the package, & drove down the street looking for the delivery man. Caught him & asked why he didn’t come up to the house (everyone else does) & get a signature. Said he was running late. I told him it only took me about 15 seconds to drive up to the house & the same back to the street; maybe 30 seconds to get my signature. He just stared at me; no answer. I was always taught that if you had a job, you did it right.
Sorry for the long rant; had to get it off my chest.

Just got an update from the shipper that due to circumstances, the product won’t be delivered until Sat - but the tracking number they provided for it takes me to the FedEx site and it shows it will be delivered today. I think they need to sync their systems a little better.
