Topaz Studio

Purchased a long time ago. Yesterday used it successfully to convert a photo to an interesting painting. Was unable to work it through Lightroom (which I can do with Topaz simplify and other programs). When saved photo I could not find it. The only way I could get the completed image was by taking a screen shot. Believe the program is no longer supported. Any suggestions how to save and where to save final images in Topaz Studio?

Thanks,
Arnold Derman

Looks like an issue that began several years ago:

Before you open in Studio, try renaming a photo something unique and easily found in a file manager search. After you edit in Studio, and click "save," then try a search of your computer for that file.

Probably best to Copy the original file to another folder and then rename the copy.. that way OP won’t chance ‘losing’ the original

make certain that it is saved as a TIFF or JPEG. Or convert to a TIFF before using Topaz Studio.

Given Topaz support for Adobe's DNG format, that really should be the 2024 expert-level advice being shared to users of these software tools.

Yes, thanks. That was a given in my brain when I said "rename." The advice just didn't make it to the keyboard

OP said he couldn't find the file after saving. I have Studio 2 which uses an 'export' feature with file type choice and location choice.

In the link I shared, a couple of people using the old Studio said they couldn't find where the file was saved - suggesting a bug in the software. "I get the box that asks what format I want to save the photo in but no options as to where it’s saving."

I sure hope that this helps:
I believe these are the very latest versions of Topaz Studio Products.
Topaz Studio - V1.14.5 This version has seven pages of “How To” on the opening page. This program will also "Save" in jpeg, TSP, Tiff, and PNG.
Topaz Studio 2 – v2.3.2 This version, when opened, has many “How To” items listed under the “Help Drop Down Menu” on the top left of the opening page. This program will also "Save" in JPG, JPEG, TIF, Tiff, and PNG.
As far as “finding” pics try a better filing system. I use a logical (for me) “2024-01-16 Subject and Description” format. I’m sure that others here on UHH will be able to shed some light on this subject.
Both Studio and Studio 2 suggest/ask you to designate a “Path” for saving complete with Computer Drive, Pictures, folder, etc.)
In a short test, both Studio and Studio 2 successfully saved one Canon CR2 file for me w/o any prior conversions.
Edit: Both also accepted JPEG/JPG format
Also, Here is a Link to all Topaz Legacy Products which provides valuable info: https://docs.topazlabs.com/other-apps/legacy
