I just found out that the Chiefs playoff game tonight will only be available via streaming Peacock. I gotta say that this really makes me mad, as I don't have Peacock and don't even have a way to stream it on my big screen tv even if I did sign up for it. Frankly, I see this as a move toward having to pay to watch all sports and hope they have a very poor response and that others are upset about this as well. It was bad enough that the Thursday night games were restricted, but everyone should get to see the playoff games and they make plenty of money putting them on network TV. Is this really the future of sports on TV?

I believe that’s how the NFL is going and MLB and NBA are right behind. Not only do I hope there are few viewers but I wonder how the class action suits will go since most of the stadiums are publicly financed and owned

I listened to Chiefs network radio. They just won 26-7. It was brass monkey football, the 4th coldest game on record. There were two shirtless fools there as well. Andy Reid's mustache frosted over. I agree with you about restricting the games. Peacock was putting out pretty sweet offers, I hope enough people were able to resist the temptation.

I live in an area where streaming is not an option. even our satellite TV has frequent interruptions. Going to a stadium, as one suggested, is not an option since I am unable to drive at night. We enjoy watching college and NFL games but it seems we will have to find a different, stay at home, entertainment.

Well, the game did not suck. We got it for free living in KC. Having someone like QB Mahomes is every NFL fan's dream. If it is a dream I don't want to wake up from it. I believe he would have gone out there without a helmet after his started to come apart. I'd take him on a bad day and he'd still outrun most anyone else. The guy I feel for is Tyreek. He's fast, calm and capable. Just doesn't have the suppporting cast like Mahomes.

Money is indeed the deciding factor here and I don't know how much money Peacock paid to have exclusive rights to the game, but I'd bet it was a heck of a lot! In any case, I hope they didn't make enough for it to be very profitable! If they want to stream the game in addition to normal network coverage, I have no issue, but to exclusively stream the game is cheating a lot of fans out of watching and lower viewership will directly reduce the price paid by advertisers for their commercial spots, which is the classic way to make money in broadcasting. Frankly, I'd love to see the numbers, both on cost verses profit and whether the total viewership was down or not, but I guess we will just have to wait and see if this exclusive streaming thing turns into the norm for sporting events. Personally, I will do without, unless it stays on "Free TV."

I think Bison Bud's right; Peacock must have paid the NFL a boatload of money and personally, I hope they lose their shirts over this deal. Does Peacock make its customers suffer through advertising? I could see paying a streaming service a fee for non-advertisement programming considering how network TV loads the football games with so many ads you sometimes forget what teams you're watching.
