Our local Costco accepted cash last week for the hot dog
It’s not clear how this procedure works. In the article, it mentions that people entered with borrowed cards are a problem, as they are not paying the membership fee. Merely scanning the membership will not catch borrowers. How can this stop the use of borrowed cards? At the checkout register, you can flash the borrowed card, but then use any Visa card to pay the tab.
I don't have any issues with security measures in any stores. There are so many dishonest people out there who think retail theft is a victimless crime. I will renew. I use my Costco credit card almost exclusively, though I rarely shop at Costco (being a single person) except for fueling and the occasional rotissierie chicken, my favorite cereal, and big bag of almonds, but I get all those points. I pay my CC off every month, so no interest, and I get over $200 back every February from the points. That more than pays for my membership fee.
How are they going to handle people who go in for pharmacy, optometry, hearing aids? One does not have to be a member for these services.
