While I think in most cases if the pictures are good the camera used is expensive but I don't think I ever heard anyone said that.

A very wise point.
Living within our means, is a key
To happiness these days.

Seems to me that the loose nut behind the camera is more important than the camera!

What people say to me is, "You have an expensive camera, I would think your pictures would be better!".

I bought a Russian (Something) 166 TLR Olympic special, and I used it as the base of a lamp, along with two other old cameras.

You should post a picture of the lamp, Jerry.

I can just picture the hordes of camera collectors descending on the Catskills – pitchforks, torches, tar and feathers, and all – crying for Jerry's blood!

I seen this years ago. I say it when someone says my camera takes good photos.
I tell them I taught it everything it knows.

I have found that when I take a picture of a turd, it looks like a turd regardless of how expensive my camera is.

We've all heard about people saying, "You must have an expensive camera to take such good pictures." Although people have complimented my pictures, they never mentioned the camera. Maybe that quotation is just an urban legend.

I posted a variation of that today. A local woman does amazing pencil sketches of local scenes. They're lifelike and accurate. In my reply, I asked her what kind of pencils she used because I'd like to draw that well. Fortunately, people realized I was being humorous, and they posted 😁.

I heard Van Gogh had excellent brushes and top-of-the-line paints :)

I put blue LEDs inside each one. Russian, Argus "Brick," and Zeiss Ikon.

My current camera was $1500. USD less than my Canon 5Dmklll was and is a better camera. Remember, A less expensive camera today would be considered high end even 10 years ago.
When I had my business, I was complimented on my skills and never asked about my gear.

Expensive gear does make a huge different for certain kinds of photography. But for artistic photography of landscapes or architecture and the like, a cheap camera will do.
