This is funny, but it happened in a branch of my family. When I was a kid, my aunt told a story about a boy coming over to pick up my cousin for a date. While they waited for my cousin to make an appearance, she offered him a slice of the pie she had just baked. He gladly accepted the pie and raved about how good it was. My aunt asked if he would like another slice. Long story short, she kept offering, and he kept accepting until he had eaten the whole pie.
When my cousin got home from the date, she told her mother that the boy didn't want to insult her by refusing the pie. The mother said she wanted to be polite and offer him another slice.
