More footage showed the plane was intact after it stopped. The fire was from the outside of the plane. Of course the fire kept on burning for like 2 more hours thus the plane was totally consumed after that. This is the first serious incident involved the A350 which is about the size of the Boeing 777.
I believe modern airliners are required to be capable of being evacuated in 90 seconds even if half the emergency exits are blocked. Also good crew training to minimise panic.

Correct, and they usually manage to do that. The main problem is people stopping to get their luggage.

It is too early to tell. The cause of any incursion must be evaluated by the NTSB. The fact that fire was viewed outside the plane MAY indicate that the Airbus engine(s) were damaged. As for the Coast Guard plane it MAY have had mechanical failure. Thank G-D the Airbus landed. I am sorry to learn of the loss of life.

Later reports indicate all 300+ passengers exited the plane safely; all 5 crew members died.

All passengers and crews on the A350 are safe. 5 out of 6 screw members of the Japanese Coast Guard Bombardier Dash 8 plane were killed.

Thanks for the update. The last report I heard did not even mention the Coast Guard plane and I assumed only the commercial plane was involved.

Yes, it is strange how the news was presented. Hardly a word about the Dash 8 Coast Guard plane, which was the reason for the crash. The A350 either collided with the Dash 8 shortly after touchdown or landed on top of the Dash 8 killing 5 of the 6 crew members. I haven't heard any more reports on the lone survivor who was the Captain/pilot of the Coast Guard plane. It was preparing to takeoff from the same runway to carry emergency supplies to the earthquake victims on the west coast of Japan. Clearly, somebody made a big mistake. Either the tower controllers or one of the pilots. The NTSB report will reveal what really happened. Good news that the passengers and crew on the A350 remained relatively calm. Otherwise, the disaster would have been even worse.
There is no way you can remove every body in 90 sec .To be licensed to fly , the test was 2 1/2 minutes to get every body out with all shuts working .
