PS won't open on MacBook Air

I have the latest version of PS 25.3.1 and it fails to open by any methods tried, from the Applications, from Creative Cloud, from a desktop shortcut, or from LrC. In all cases, the result is the same i.e. the PS splash screen appears, disappears and then nothing happens. I tried reverting to earlier versions with the same results. In those cases, it goes through the normal verification check, splash screen and nothing. I restarted my MacBook Air with each modification but without success. I am running Ventura 13.6.3 with M2 chip on my AirBook Air. I am not sure when the issue appeared as I have been using my iMac and not MacBook Air for few months. PS seems to work fine on my iMac. Any clues or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try updating to Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1, the latest update. I believe there is a method to roll this back if needed. There is no reason not to keep your Mac up-to-date.

I tend to be conservative and wait before updating to allow time for bugs to be worked out.

Sonoma has been our for some time now and waiting is excluding you from the enjoyment of using your Mac to it's fullest advantage.

Checklist:

Do you have at least 16GB unified memory?
Do you have at least 512GB internal storage (SSD)?
Is at least half of your internal storage completely empty, to allow room for memory paging operations?
Have you tried shutting down all other running applications?
Have you run Adobe's uninstaller for Photoshop?
Are you running the latest version of macOS (Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71))?
Compare macOS versions on your iMac and MacBook Air. Which is newer?

In general the latest updates also have the latest security, but I really agree with waiting at least to and x.1 update one OS's . Since Sonoma is already a x.2 you are probably safe. But call Adobe First as your issue may be a known one.

Yes to everything except I am running the latest Ventura, not Sonoma. Actually, I just resolved the issue this afternoon. Yesterday, I contacted Adobe Chat support and they identified the problem with plugins and suggested that NIK was the culprit. They were correct that plugins/filters were causing the issue but it wasn’t NIK. It was an earlier version of ON1. It took me while to sort this out but everything is back to normal.
Incidentally, FYI, one can start PS without any plugins by holding down the SHIFT key while starting the PS and holding SHIFT down until the splash screen appears. At that point, prompt asks if you would like to start PS with or without plugins. Selecting without plugins, allows PS to start without plugins. This allows determination if the problem is with the PS or plugs ins.

Great to hear on all counts! Thanks for the tip about starting without plug-ins.
