American Graffiti celebrates 50th anniversary

The movie American Graffiti was released 50 years ago. So many now famous stars made in this movie and sadly so many gone including the recent passing of Suzanne Summers (blonde in T-Bird). I saw the movie 17 times when it first came out. It's the ONLY movie I have ever watched repetitiously. Still love hot rods.

What was your favorite scene or character?

I bought these 1/18 scale diecast cars in 2000 when they were released and on sale at a toy store now long gone.

These cars have never been out of the boxes; they are still sealed. The boxes have been stored in a dry, temp controlled environment. Pristine.

It's a good movie but I didn't find it to be a great movie. Each to his own, though.

Totally agree. It is however, a cult classic.

The movie American Graffiti was released 50 years ... (show quote)

Wow! That sure dates a lot of us! Around the same time a movie I thought was better was "The Last Picture Show".

This movie, as I understand, was about the young people graduating in 1962. I found the movie to be a great representation of what it was like at the time as I graduated the same year. Being from South Texas, we were well aware of Wolfman. And I can remember classmates who were very much like those in the movie. And, yes, “The Last Picture Show” is a classic, too.

It really is a time capsule gifted to us by George Lucas. I listened to Wolfman Jack in the mid 70's along with "Dr. Demento".
