It is OK as has been said.
It is not recommended though.
Bottom line is that there is no problem unless you have vignetting. Then is that acceptable to you.

Two filters certainly wouldn't make it better.

But would they make it noticeably worse?

Extra glass, possible vignetting. Go ahead. Because you know, if you remove the UV filter, you might drop the lens and break it.

So how many people can discern "extra glass" in a shot?

I would have said remove the UV when using the CPL .

But, after 20 minutes of searching the web, it seems using both together is no problem and is a very common practice.

Like I said, who can discern "extra glass"....... I can't.
For some, just knowing there is extra glass biases them.

Remove the UV filter, while you have it off, blow off the front element of your lens, clear and store UV filter, before attaching the CPL filter, check and clean if necessary, use the CPL filter, when done, store CPL filter, check front element of lens and clean if necessary, reattach the useless UV filter, attach lens hood.

Curious - If everything was clean before the protective filter was attached, and it was not removed (for a long time), how would the front element get dirty? The only thing that might be dirty would be the front of the protective filter.

Personally I put as little extra glass as possible on the front of my lenses especially on wide/extra wide angle lenses due to vignetting

Best not to stack. I keep a UV, 1A, 1B, Clear on for protection but often take them off indoors when shooting Close-ups or Macros. I rarely use a CPL. Gives uneven (but possibly darker) skies. Most of the problems I have with reflections are not polarized light so the filter does little or nothing to improve a image.

No big deal for me.
If what I want to do vignettes, I compose inside the vignetting and will crop the perimeter out in post.

Everyone has their own must follow procedures.
I adapt.

UV filters allow stuff to get on the front element of the lens. Just happens. Also, a film will develop on the front element behind the UV filter over time, again, just happens.
I believe a UV filter useless for any lens. One, it is not necessary to protect the front element of the lens, two, they get dirty and most folks never clean it, three, a film develops on the front and back of the filter over time and folks tend not to keep in clean and yes, it will effect image quality.
You should watch the entire video below.

If you want to protect your front element, the best protection is the lens hood.
UV filters are one of the most useless gadgets photographers can purchase.

FACT, a film will build up on both surfaces of a UV filter and the front element of the lens over time. If you don't clean it, it will effect image quality.
This is not an opinion, it's science. It happens. You can ignore it, or deal with it. Other wise you are risking the quality of your images.
Basic maintenance. Nothing else.

I was referring to this statement: "UV filters are one of the most useless gadgets photographers can purchase."...

As for the "film", I'll have to check my lenses as it's been over 5 years since I put the filter on it.
Nothing noticeable last time I used the camera.
