I'm not signing up for that.
Starting January 29, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. ... We will also offer a new ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month* that you can sign up for here. Live event content such as sports, and content offered through Amazon Freevee will continue to include advertising.
I don't watch enough Prime movies to justify paying them another $35 annual to avoid some ads. They didn't say how much that charge would be in 2025.
EDIT: I wish I was "struggling" like Amazon. Gross profit rises annually.

This may be the last straw for me. They are very greedy. They keep going up in membership price too. Always been unhappy with their free music service for prime members, then they started moving lots, if not most of their prime TV show content to FreeVee (which they own) so you have to watch commercials and now they are putting commercials in the free stuff they still have on prime! We mostly rent new release movies there and there are other free to use apps that rent the same movies for the same prices on demand with no membership fee like Vudu or Redbox on demand. The only advantage to Prime for me now is the free shipping on orders and photo storage. I have my photos tripple backed up on hard drives so was only using Amazon for cloud storage which I can live without. So since there's a Walmart 5 minutes away maybe I'll just quit Amazon all together, buy the same Chinese made crap at Walmart, stream through Roku with apps I already pay for like Hulu, Paramount+, and Peacock and rent new release movies on demand using Vudu. Screw Amazon!

I hate to gripe but yes, it seems everything keeps inching up. I think the big-boy companies know they will lose some customers and also gain some making it profitable. What does not seem to be "inching up" is groceries. They seem to have taken a huge leap up last few years.

This was to be expected. Amazon is now a major film studio and recently, along with Netflix and the other major studios, signed contracts with the WGA and SAG. Those agreements finally gave writers and actors long sought-after raises in both pay and residuals. The residuals issue was a long-time sticking point in the negotiations because before streaming, there was no contract that covered residuals for streaming. When the studios finally caved and agreed to a fair contract, they weren't about to pay for it...WE ARE. That additional $2.99 a month is to cover the increase in wages and residuals for the two unions, as are the commercials. I predict that if not enough people sign up for the $2.99/month increase, the frequency of what they called "limited" commercials will surely increase.

Besides the additional $2.99/month, Prime charges for many movies - rent or buy.

Two other things I've noticed on Amazon in the last month. New release movies used to be $19.99 to rent as long as they were in theaters and after that $6.99 or less. Now I see a lot of them that only drop to $9.99 when they become available outside of the theater. I have Paramount+ and Hulu and I have found several recent release movies on those platforms that Amazon is still charging a rental fee for.

When it's cheaper to see a movie in a theater, they've gone too far with their pricing. They used to give us the Washington Post with Prime. We're gradually getting less and less while paying more and more. That's how the system works.
Every time I get an email about "Change of Terms," it's never better for the customer.
