And you think your Nikon battery isn’t made in a foreign country?

Which country isn't foreign to you? The USA? Then you can't get Li-ion batteries made in the USA.
After-market batteries could void your Nikon warranty. Don't do it!
I am amazed that some people spend a few thousand dollars on cameras and lenses and then skimp on batteries and storage discs. Makes no sense.

It may not make sense to you but it probably makes sense to a host of others.

I don't use third party battery either but how do Nikon prove that you use the third party battery. Whenever you send the camera to Nikon for repair they told you not to send the battery. Even if they might know how do they prove it?

The odds are.........Nikon won't know. I am one of those that use Nikon batteries, however.
I keep my batteries with the cameras I bought them for. I use several "D" model Nikon, and one "Z" yes the batteries look the same but are there differences in them? Only the Shadow knows. Cheers.
Thanks, ordered the “C” variant, will sell the others when I get around to it.
I guess if you had a total battery melt down that could be ugly, hadn’t really thought about warranty issues. Same for the grip. Now I’m second guessing a non-Nikon flash as well.
THANKS, I’m happy for the advise, and I might just buy Nikon stuff, but I thought this might be a good place to get advise from more experienced experts (who don’t work for Nikon). Money’s not really the issue, but if there are good options out there…. Now I’m afraid to ask about a flash….
Sorry, I can upload the error message if anyone’s interested. There’s no error with the battery that accompanied the camera, but all of my older batteries produce the error. I don’t think it’s a camera issue.
That’s a great idea, particularly for video. The Z8 seems less power hungry VS the DLSRs that I have used in the past. I assume there less mechanical stuff. I don’t see as much going on with autofocus.

That is helpful information. It certainly sounds like your camera thinks your other batteries are incompatible, regardless of experiences that others may have had. My suggestion is your best next step is to call Nikon.
