IMO, the more MPs you have, the better!

See 1 MP (HorseJournals, 2/21/21, Melanie Huggett, Robin Duncan Photography)

Obviously.
But not all are obsessed with it.

I'm not talking about the MPs in our cameras--I could care less-more or so.

Well, that seems to be the discussion subject.
What MPs are you referring to then?

Simple question.
Where will it lead ?

NONE.

I don't cover any subject matter where that many pixels would be a clear advantage. A camera like that would just bottleneck all the rest of my workflow with ridiculously large files.

As a former systems manager, I know that optimizing performance of any component of any system — beyond what the rest of the system can reasonably accommodate without bottlenecks — is fruitlessly wasteful.

While lenses don't have an mp rating, there is a theoretical limit for resolution based on diameter assuming a perfect surface. If interested, check ASTRO sites. Also depends on wavelength, reason radio telescopes are so huge.

My pictures are of 1 Mounted Policeman(see 'MP' on body) and many Mounted Policemen..
aka...MPs.

More of these MPs the better.

I take two kinds of photos: macro and hummingbirds and small animals. For both of these, my Canon R5 45mp works great since a I am always distance challenged in both directions. But it is the 13 x 19 print I worship, not the camera or lens. If it can produce a 300 dpi 13 x 19, its good enough for me(only requires about 10 mp).

More than 45 mp, I would need to trade my Macbook Pro M1 in for one with lots more memory than I currently have.

I didn’t know that members of parliament wore red suits and rode horses. You learn something new every day.
