Apple ID Password - Making progress

After a week or more, I got a code to reset my Apple ID Password. That's not my Apple Password. It's the password for my Apple ID. Got it? I did that, and then I had to sign in twice using the ID and P/W. I got onto my iPad, but then it wanted my Apple Password. I entered what I thought was correct, and a window popped up saying they were going to send a code to my IOS 9 or IOS 10 device. I'm not sure I have one of them. I clicked on Cancel.

The next message said they would send the code to my cell phone. When nothing showed up, I looked back at the computer screen, and it now displayed the message about the IOS 9 or 10 device. I seem to be able to use the iPad, but it says that Gmail isn't secure enough, so I can't use that.

I'm glad I have good old dependable Windows to get he through life.

It doesn't make sense to me, either, but that's how Apple does it. They make you wait a week or more.

It seems that Apple and Google have been fighting with each other, trying to make life more difficult for users.

I think Google is in the lead. I went through hell several times with Google Home. If Google had a rear end I would kick it from here too Mars.

Been using Apple products since 2003, both at work and at home. For various reasons I have had to update my passwords a number of times.

Never an issue: A few mouse clicks, a code sent immediately (may take a few seconds to receive), a few more mouse clicks and done. Never more than five minutes to update.

The one time, several years ago, that I did have a problem, a quick phone call to Apple resolved the problem in about ten minutes.

Ah, you must be living in "The Ideal World." I didn't qualify for that. Apple always takes a week or more - and they give me the day and time - to send the code. I can use the old, slow iPad, but not with Gmail. I haven't tried the computers, yet.

I am not sure what world you are living in, but the process and times of your claim are neither realistic nor accurate.

The last password change for Apple took less than five minutes.

1. Had NEW password ready.
2. Contacted Apple via Password Reset.
3. Requested change.
4. Received code on phone.
5. Entered code.
6. Entered NEW password.
7. Signed in to account on App Store.
DONE.

Not sure. Last time I set/reset an Apple ID password was more than a few years ago. However it also was similarly painless.

Good luck!

Be well.
