Photo Books

Does anyone have any firsthand experience with an outfit called Mixbook?

I received a gift card for them which expires at the end of the year and am trying to find out if it is worth the trouble putting together a photo book. Judging by their prices, the gift card will cover about 75% of the cost. I have only ever used Shutterfly, and had never heard of them before.

If you have used them, what is your opinion regarding their quality, and the ease of use of their software?

I’m only interested in your experience with Mixbook, not with any other providers. Thanks.

I first made a wedding album with MixBook last year. It came out absolutely beautiful! Very high quality and the software was very feature rich and easy to use. In fact, that was the big selling point for me. I tried out six different products online as a test, and MixBook easily won me over.

While putting together the wedding album I saw how easy it also was to customize pages and edit the images on the fly as well.

This year I ordered and just received our Holiday Greeting cards for our family. Again, I was even able to customize the back and front of the card template I chose, which I was very surprised to be able to do. Cards came out beautifully. Last year I also used them for the cards. When I received them I wasn’t happy with them (too light). Emailed their Customer Support, they ran off another 75 cards and sent them to me at NO CHARGE.

Highly recommend them.

Thanks. That was very helpful. I had not thought about using the gift card for greeting cards. That might be the way I go.

Jesu S!

To get a first-hand opinion about Mixbooks, send a PM to "Hip Coyote", another Hogger here. He is retired and travels extensively with his family and friends and uses Mixbooks to print and share his memories.

He gave a book-making presentation to our camera club, Park West CC, a while back. If you are interested, here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4SPqD_QBoQ

Be well! Ed
