Help needed with recovering SD card data

Well, it finally happened, I inadvertently reformatted an SD card before backing it up, and now I'm struggling to find a way to recover the deleted video files.

It's my understanding that as long as I don't use the card, it should be recoverable. Hopefully that's true.

I'm searching for reliable recovery software, so if anyone has a recommendation, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is best if you use recovery software from the Card Mfgr.
And it will not be completely free!!

I have and it's worked well. But as I understand it, the results on a reformatted card can vary depending on the camera brand. Some apparently overwrite the data as part of the reformatting process, in which case it is not recoverable. You can download a free trial version to see what happens in your case.

In my experience, recovery software works only on "undisturbed" media. If you try one of them and it doesn't work, it is very rare for a second, different one to work.

I'm not sure that you can recover photos after formatting the card. I have used several of the recovery programs that have been suggested when photos have been deleted but the card wasn't formatted. I have had good success using Recuva.

madpaddler!

I made this offer to another Hogger earlier this year at no charge! See Page 2 of this thread:

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-784081-1.html

As I still have 5 or 6 Activation codes, one is yours if you would like to recover your data. I have been using the previous Version 4 successfully for several years to recover images from some of my old hard drives from the late 90s and 00s (from my business). This new version is only a 1-year subscription while V.4 is forever! I did try RescuePro Deluxe once to make sure that it worked!

I can email you the Activation Code to enter. Google "RescuePro Deluxe" to download the software.

Be well! Ed

madpaddler! br br I made this offer to another Ho... (show quote)

Ed:

Thanks for the offer of your activation codes. I have a two (2) year code form SanDisk that I got after a purchase of one of their products. However, I have not been able to activate it. I have tried several times but no luck. It is not the end of the world as I don't need the service at the moment. Maybe in the future.
