At my granddaughter's insistence we ate at MacDonalds a month or two ago and it was a little over $40 for the three of us. If it were up to me, I'd never set foot in that place...ever.

Yupp, I totaly understand, I hadnt been to a McDonald's in quite some time, and not long ago had the urge for a Big Mac, whoa BIG mistake that was,
it was about hlaf the size of what they used to be, had the big mac meal, and it was like 12 bucks and I had to order thru a machine, as no one would come and take an order at the regsister.

Per google $1 in 1955 $11.23 today
My Dad bought then brand new 4 door Chevy Bel Air base 6 manual shift for $2k so cars are certainly more expensive and burger would be $1.60 or so Do not buy McDonalds today so do not know price but probably more than that

I hadn't been to mcdonald's in about three years. Went yesterday: filet of fish, medium shake, fries. $17.00

I can go to my local, order a small pizza and a beer, and pay about the same price.

I probably won't see Mickey for another three years - or longer!

Speaking of inflation in my lifetime (83) my home country Chile has suffered inflation 1 to 100000000
Money has been devalued 1 to 1/1000 twice
It is not worse in History but pretty bad

Don't remember going to McDonalds when young. Sunday after church, my dad took all 6 of us boys & mom to Carrolls, they also charged 15 cents for burgers. My rather slender dad would order 16 hamburgers, 8 fries, 8 chocolate milkshakes, bring the whole works back to all of us waiting in our 1960 VW Beetle! Then, we'd drive the 80 miles to visit our grandparents on the farm.

Loved Carrolls hamburgers

Haven't found a McDonald's yet. They are all pretty cooked. They look like thin hockey pucks & taste like it too.

do you? Check out these prices. My,my, how times have changed. This is about when I recall the McDonald's in my home town opening. Yeah, with the '55 Chrysler and the '55 Chevy, it's right around '55 or '56.

I remember the first McDonalds I ever saw. It was in Sweetwater, Texas, and I stopped in to get something to feed me on a trip north. I ordered it with mayonnaise and no tomatoes. I got the bag and took off northward. Imagine my surprise when I opened the wrapper and found that some idiot had put catsup on my hamburger. I don't know about the rest of you, but such an idea had never occurred to any hamburger shop in at least my part of Texas. I have never again been in a McDonalds (or Burger King by association).

I remember when you can get a burger cooked the way you want it. Medium rare not like the hockey pucks they give you now. That is because someone sued Jack-in- the-Box cause they got sick eating tainted meat that wasn't cooked properly. Now all fast food places over cook their burgers.

Was that in the 1990s? A very pathogenic strain of E. coli got in the ground beef supply chain and much of it ended up with Jack in Oregon or Washington (I forget which). During that scare I took a chance and went to a Jack In The Box in CA in Monrovia at lunch time and there were no customers. And only two people working, a cook and the manager, he laid everyone else off! I ordered a Chicken Sandwich.

What was in the paper was Jack in the box was sued because the burger wasn't cooked enough & someone got samenella poisoning. It was in California.

From that time I couldn't get a burger medium rare from McDonald's. None of the burger places were cooking it the way you wanted. They all cooked them like hockey pu ks.
