I took this photo of a friend of ours and printed it for her as a christmas gift. She loved it, but I want to see what you guys think of it. Please feel free to give honest C&C. Don't be afraid to be harsh. I can take it.

Thanks,

Dave

That looks like Spanish to me Dave.:):) If you look at the bottom of the page there is a way to contact the Admin. I am sure he will help you. Or you could try the help section at the top of the page.

Have you reduced your image size to that required for posting? I believe it's around 800 - 1024 pixels on the long side.

Thanks for your reply. I did do that. The image is 1220 X 1708, so maybe I need to reduce it more. I'll try that.

I don't shoot portraits so I can't give cc, other than I really do like this photograph. It made me smile as soon as I saw it. Of course, her smile is infectious and you captured it perfectly, IMHO.

Dave, if this is your first try at this you did very well. Very nice pose and the lighting look really good.

Thanks Erv. Not my 1st, but probably my best so far. I have done a few others for friends and several test shots on myself, but my fellow hedgehogs have taught me a lot. Still much more to learn.

A very nice shot Dave. Lighting and expression are great! I personally would move her to the right abit for more space on the left. This lovely lady looks a tad soft...intentional or ? Where was the focus & do you have PP software?

You're very welcome. I had the same problem when I first tried to post on this site and some kind folks here helped me. Just returned the favour.
She's a very nice looking lady and I think it's a great shot. Captures her personality well. :D

Thanks, Jusoljoe, I think you have a good point about moving her to the right. Also, after reducing the photo several times in order to post it, it does look a bit soft, but the original photo was focused on her left eye, and looks very sharp in my computer as well as the prints I made for her. I do have PSE 10, Lightroom 4 and Portrait Professional. I did some minor touch ups using PP and Elements.
Again, thanks for looking and giving me your critique. Your points are well taken. She is a very nice lady and it felt good that doing this made her happy.
