Yes, that's what I do when I'm on hold. This time I got a quick connection, though.
It sounds like they have caught on to your ways of dealing with them!? Grin

No mystery to me why people get shot. Kind of like the crap " Wells Fargo " gets away with and is still in business. Makes you wonder who's getting paid under the table.
My wife has been on the merry go round for most of this year with AFLAC. They claim no payment even though a bank statement showing the cleared checks was sent. The last set of letters included a copy for the state insurance commissioner. The scam is that if they deny payment and cancel the policy then the much lower age-related premium is gone.

No matter what -- At least for Utilities and Banking - We are big fans of Paper Bills & always pay by Ck.
Keep the Paper Trail alive as much as you can!!
It's really not old fashion no matter what "THEY" say -- It's just smart business
The problem with paper checks is that they are easily "washed" if stolen before they reach their destination. It is important to use gel pens when writing checks as these are more difficult to wash.

Yea, and no good contacting your congressman state or national for help because we all know they can't get sht done. Sad day for us and the US.

Wow! I have the same problem with my car finance company but if they somehow think I'm 3 months behind, they might repossess the car....
When I used to write paper checks, I always had the canceled check to show payment. How do you prove payment when you pay electronically?
After you've paid online, there is a new "recap" webpage, confirming the account, date and amount of payment and other info. I always do a "save as" and keep the digital copy in the corresponding folder on my computer. You could also print out the page.

Easy.
After you authorize a payment, they respond with a screen which shows the transaction no. and payment authorization number.
And a few other detail about the bill you paid.
Copy & paste that information and save it.
Now you have proof of payment in case you need to prove you paid just like a copy of a cancelled check.
.
The bank and or the credit card company will also have the transaction recorded. I can go back several years and still see the bill payments I have made through the bank.
Same issue with renewing , like clubs / magazines . no more once a year a bill with an envelope to send payment . Now , you have to go online , open an account , and a create a pass word . Same with house and car insurance .They cant afford to collect $ 2k by mail !!!! .

Right! And I always got a confirmation number. Unfortunately, no one told me that the CC payment was declined because they were using the wrong card.

Do you have any idea how expensive it is to except checks for payment?
The money spent to process checks is expensive.
The check sorters, the people to run them.
The amount of time spent opening the envelopes, the garbage, the office space for all those machines!
While I never worked on those machines, the company I worked for sold and serviced them.
OH, did I forget to mention the service they need.
Cleaning, lubricating, replacing belts, rollers, etc.
Some of the large sites had 24/7 service personnel stationed there.
Check sorting is expensive.
Electronic banking is so much cheaper.
Then there is no more, "I'm sorry the check is in the mail" or "My check must have gotten lost" BS either.

And yet, banking charges have increased while the interest they pay has decreased.

Well with the Fed has been increasing the rate and the high inflation you will start to see banks offer higher interested rate but it won't make up for neither.
