Get a LENS HOOD.

Even an empty ring like I mounted on my Pan ZS20 provides some protection tho just based on increasing the distance to hit the lens. OR in the case of the ZS20 those closure leaves that are so close to the lens. Last night I showed my mod (37mmm ring) to a lady at the CClub who had a TZ5 (like body) and she lived in fear of the leaves being damaged, then damaging the lens. This mod allows for filters, but also will hold a conventional HARD squez-to-open plastic lens cap.
Steps to do this given in UHH forum under my name.

Great idea. So you buy a filter and then break the glass out of the frame. I'll see what B+W has for 77mm. :D

Actually Jerry I purchased an adapter from a smaller size to 37mm this gives more surface area than just an empty ring.
No problems thus far. Works like a charm. no longer use the white cap shown ... switched to a conventional squeeze cap.

So, I have a sophisticated P&S with a gradient gray, ND4, CPF, and will be making a 1/2 field lens for close and far focus.

2th, Dr Farzin, while governments my butt heads, we photographers are kindred souls debating technical trivia of technique and admiring each others work. Have you posted photos of Persian art or modern Iranian art.

Sure, metal ring, 37mm filter rings rather than size change adapters will work or plastic cap from a bottle will work for that purpose. Just checked and a plastic mustard squeeze bottle has a 37mm cap!

To improvise is the key to life. However filters are fun. I order mine from China from EBay for little money. I find the quality acceptable.

What camera do you have?

Hay, wait a minute 2th, we in USA can not take photos like those http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-57450-1.html
Yes, we have artificial turf but you in Persia have turf made of "Magic Carpet". The horses are the same horses breed in the old move, flying in the air! Do their feet ever touch the ground?? Wow!

By the way, Topaz Labs programs are on sale til the end of the year. They are all download so shipping is not an issue. Over the years that I have had Topaz, they have never charged for upgrades. The 40% discount is by using the code.... "Topaz2012"

As we are talking about protection, would any one like to recommend a cleaning product and method to correctly clean a lens?

I generally have a protector or filter on my lenses, so they stay clean. When I do have to clean a lens or filter, I start with the Giottos Rocket and then Zeiss Lens Cleaning Wipes. They're little alcohol-soaked swabs.
