It seems that cannabis and vomiting sometimes go hand-in-hand. That's gotta be rough for the people in the ER. Many patients with CHS have violent hurling when they arrive to the emergency department...

Cannabis-induced vomiting
Doctors are reporting a growing number of people coming into emergency rooms with stomach pain and unrelenting vomiting. They compulsively take hot showers. Anti-nausea medication offers little relief. The unsuspecting culprit is cannabis, as overconsumption can lead to what is known as cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS). “Many patients with CHS have violent hurling when they arrive to the emergency department,” says Sam Torbati at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. They often show up weak and dehydrated, and sometimes lose consciousness, he says.

it is called cyclic vomiting, and, can be very severe. many claim the hot showers helps to control the vomiting.

Not surprising...the usage is up...and some folks cannot tolerate aspirin...peanuts...etc.

It's a statistical anomaly...

These may be the same kind of people who are said to overdose on water. Can you imagine that?
Overdosing on water. Lol.

I am a former clinical toxicologist, also have done many years of service in ERs, this is not a statistical anomaly, it is a defined diagnosis, cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.

That can be deadly. You may have heard of the woman in CA who drank herself to death trying to win a radio contest.

Perhaps you don't get the meaning of what I said...I said it is not prevalent within the smoking/using population.

Not the same thing as saying it doesn't exist.

Aspirin reactions exist as well...like any other drug.

They don't give the method of use. I would think it would happen more often with edibles, since it takes a while for the effects to happen, so It's easy to take too much.

The syndrome was definited well before the common use of edibles.

Before the '60s? Edibles were common then, usually homemade brownies. Also in drinks with tincture of cannabis.

How terrible if they actually had to stop using! I’m sure plenty of people (users) will say there’s nothing wrong with it and that their use of it doesn’t constitute a problem. My son was a drug addict for 16 years, used nearly every drug created and said regardless of what people say, marijuana IS a gateway drug for the majority of users. He was the typical drug addict, stealing from family, lying, county jail, state prison twice, six rehab stays and he had to literally kill himself before he could quit. A heroin overdose, passed out, heart quit, turned blue and fortunately his “girlfriend” hadn’t shot up yet. It took two doses of Narcan and a bunch of CPR to bring him back. On the bright side, he said the experience changed something in his head and gave him the strength to quit and stay clean. No doubt him looking down from the ceiling and watching the girl work on his lifeless blue body also helped. The only other thing he told me was that while floating he could see where he was going and that he didn’t have any desire at all to end up there. He also said that he never thought that he had a problem with drugs until he got clean and then he could see that he had a HUGE problem.

He’s been clean now going on three years, got a degree and has a job in computer programming. Fortunately he didn’t cook his brain and best of all his relationship with his siblings has been repaired and they are a family again.

For the record, I have no problem with cancer patients smoking grass. After chemo my neighbor would have to go buy grass off the street so that he was able to eat and not puke for three days after each weekly treatment.

I guess alcohol is also a gateway drug, as I suspect most heroin addicts used it first. The real statistic should be how many cannabis users went on to heroin, not how may heroin addicts started with cannabis.
