Why would anyone miss you? You bring nothing to the discussion except repetitive pointless sarcasm. That just validates the fact that you cannot offer relevant, useful comments to the discussion at hand. Enjoy you vacation and troll an different site while you are away. You might kindly look into extending it and making yourself and everyone else happy.

I have been shooting Nikon cameras since 1971 and have a question about my Nikon Z6ii camera and have been informed that I have to pay a fee to get an answer or any help. This is utterly ridiculous, un acceptable, and SORRY CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!! Very disappointed in Nikon.

Awhile agoI had a similar problem with a printer. When I googled the mfr's tech support I quickly clicked on thei company's name and tech support. i got some useless, unhelpful jerk who eventually said there was a software problem on my computer and for a few hundred bucks they could fix it.

I told him to go pound salt and hung up. I did a little research and found this Indian clown was a scammer as I had assumed. I contacted the printer mfr at a different address and fixed the problem in just a few minutes.

I suggest you try Nikon again and be sure you didn't get some fraud imposter the first time around. You have nothing to lose.

I had a Z6ii and remember that if you go to the Custom Settings Menu and scroll to Controls (F8 I believe) you can adjust the functions the various buttons perform, and you can change what the Sub Selector button does.
I have not read all the posts on this and the other thread and apologize if it was already suggested.

Exactly what I was wondering, was the person you were talking to a scammer? I use an USDA computer and we have to take regular courses-quizzes on computer security. Ends up a lot of these Indian scammers are legitimate tech support people on their regular job but are scamming on there off time. I’m sure someone smarter than me could make legitimate tech calls transfer to their private phone or computer, where the scamming begins. I agree, try calling again.

I have noticed in the last few months a percipitate decline in the quality of assistance you get when you contact Nikon for help with a problem. Formerly the Nikon response was lenghty, helpful and quite obviously was answered by someone who knew what he was talking about. The next to last inquiry I sent them was answered by someone who had not the vaguest idea of what he was talking about. I asked about a problem I was having with my D5600 , the Retouch menu would not activate. The Nikon person informed me that the Retouch menu was not included in the D5600, which of course it is. I didn't bother to correct him but a few days later he sent a garbled excuse that, yes, it is included in the D5600 but he still did not answer my question. The latest, a few days ago I tried to download images from my camera to my computer and found that the Nikon program I have used for years has been either dropped or modified and has been replaced with a different program, a fact which Nikon did not bother to advise those who were still using the former program. It appears that Nikon has replaced all of its experienced staff with clerks who know only how to send a boilerplate response.

grandpaw,
I am a Nikon shooter DSLR not Mirrorless. I am sorry that people are not being helpful, disappointed as I have always thought this forum was useful.
My suggestion look on the Nikon Download website, asks what you want - Mirrorless camera, then a list of cameras comes up. Click on Z6 two and a few articles that you may download for reference. I have the D850 and downloaded all the D850 articles for reference purposes. Hopefully the answer is present. If not and you are still stuck I have a back channel and if you give me a concise question I will ask my contact for you.
Best Wishes
Derek.

I'm sorry you are leaving this forum so quickly. There are many very knowledgeable people here, and you only gave it 3 months. Maybe you are not meant to interact with strangers on the social media sites. I have found if I don't like what they have to say, I just keep my comments to myself and move on. But I have learned alot and made a few acquaintances in my years here. Blessings to you. Keep spreading kindness.

In your post, you wrote: "This is utterly ridiculous, unacceptable, and SORRY CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!!"

My question is...... "Are you a 'Bonified Customer'??? Is your question in relation to a recently purchased product and/or are you a 'Subscriber" to some "form of Service" that Nikon offers??

If this is the case... I can see your point for personal dissatisfaction -- BUT, if you have "NO Formal" relationship with Nikon, and are just a "passerby" of someone who has a XXX-year-old Nikon, what is the difference between you and others who ask "general question" in "open forum media" such as Facebook or maybe here...

If Nikon makes it a policy to answer any and/all questions for anybody who just wants to "drive by" and "pick their professional brain" and they have 'no relationship' they are actually adding to the burden of their overall company cost... without then consideration of "return" for their efforts of answering your question...

Example: Kind of like, just sticking your head in the door or a "car repair shop" and asking the question... can you tell me how to repair my XYZ car engine???

That is my humble 2¢ in the matter......

Cheers

Random online allegations of poor products / services / etc tend to fall apart when more context is provided. With zero knowledge of the specifics, everyone can freely insert their own imagined version of the events, or this question.

Asking what the question is / was is an effort to help, rather than just more mob pile-on fake rage at Nikon. Guess, something you don't understand.

CHNG_CANON always asks questions in order to provide a complete, clear and accurate response. When Paul sez the berries are ripe, I grab my bucket.

He only has 229 posts. Thus he is a newbie on here. Hopefully he will learn that you CAN get answers on here.

I never had problem asking Nikon questions about their products. I do use Nikon but not to the extend that you can call a bonafide customer. Besides Nikon doesn't know what I own. I am really curious about the situation that the OP was in. I wonder exactly what Nikon told him.

This is almost as much fun as a thread whining about B&H or any other vendor! Definitely the same format and many typical resposes.

How many more pages?? Gotta love it!

What is this? KINDergarten? Maybe you should hang around longer to learn from where people are coming instead of running and hiding. Don't go home to mommy. Hang in there.
