Thank you so much, Linda. I didn't add blur, but that was the reason for my query. I wanted other perspectives to see if they would see it differently bringing the fog in closer. I see it with the two boats leading the eyes to look at the ones in the fog. Then again, that's just one set of eyes.
I definitely see it as you do because of the receding clarity as you move back. How would you bring the fog in closer? Cropping?

Linda, I just hit myself in the forehead. I didn't even think of a crop which would be quick, but likely would mean cropping on three sides and/or changing format size. I was thinking of using a radial gradient and going negative with texture, clarity and dehaze. Wouldn't be an option with color, but with B&W I figured I might pull it off with an increased feathering to minimize the transparency on the boat closest to the fog.

I'm a post processing minimalist.
So I'm not one to ask.
I like to see what the camera caught.

But I do like the composition of it. The foreground boat, the second fading, and the ghost boats in the fog.
I find it intriguing. Especially in the download and zooming in.
Very nice!

Nice photo. To give more emphasis to the fog, I'd crop out or remove the bottom boat.

Thanks for the kind words, John. That's an option I didn't think of trying. Apologies for the delayed response.

No worries, Chance.

A beautiful image as presented.

There is a bit of post processing but the image shows the fog as conditions were when it was taken. Would you have done more processing...such as bringing the fog in to closer ? Or something different?

I would keep as is. B&W with the fog in the background creates a dramatic image. We were at Bar Harbor, Maine a few years ago with very similar circumstances. Nice work with a fitting title.

In my view, the image as presented is powerful.
The brighter boat signifies the present, the 2nd fading into fog is yesterday, and the boats in heavy fog is the times passed - as in Davy Jones Locker?
Only imo, cropping the nearest clear boat takes away from the story of loss - present, recent past, and the long gone, but not forgotten.

Think of some of our vaunted valued members here. This is an emotional image

Love the fact that the mental processing for your comments is sourced from the handle 'mindzeye.' Its all about how each of us sees it. Thank you for your perspective and the time to visit. Very much appreciated.
