"The Green Inferno" was alarmingly frightening.

Frankenstein, the original, I believe 1931. When the creature ( Boris Karloff ) was first revealed. My mother who saw it when originally shown, said there were screams through out the theatre and she had never experienced fright like that ever.

Yes, that must have been scary back then - King Kong, too.

"I Spit On Your Grave" is both horrorific and violent (revenge). There are at least 3 in the series.

"The Evil Dead" (at least a couple of sequels of it) and the spinoff "Ash vs. Evil Dead" (funny, violent, monsters, etc.)

I've recorded the Mummy with Boris Karloff. I'm now watching Mad Love with Peter Lorre on TCM. Unfortunately, I don't see that it's being re-played.

I'm disappointed at not being able to find horror movies to watch. Going through Netflix, Prime, and Paramount+, I've seen the ones that appeal to me. Some descriptions don't sound appealing at all, so I skip them. Others, I begin watching, but they're just too dull.

I am now accepting suggestions for horror films available for streaming.

The Night of the Demon (number one for a reason)
Eye of the Devil
The Phantom of the Rue Morgue
Sleepy Hollow
Village of the Damned
The Curse of the Cat People
The Haunting of Hill House
The Horror of Dracula
I Waked with a Zombie
The Walking Dead
The Fog
The Return of Dr X (just to see Humphrey Bogart as a mad scientist)
Dr. Jeckell and Mr Hyde (the version with Spencer Tracey)
The Blob (one of Steve Mcqueen’s first movies)
The Mark of the Vampire
The mystery of the Wax Museum
The Black Cat
The Conjuring
The Mummy (Karloff)
The Body Snatcher

I could go on…

Yes, lots of good ones there. Also, Midnight Mass (definitely creepy), the other Conjuring movies, and The Haunting of Bly Manor. There is a movie similar to "Blye," but I don't recall the title. It has several of the same actors, and they switched accents (English/American) for the movies. Okay - I got it. The pair consist of The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Blye Manor. The kid from ET has major roles in both films - Midnight Mass, too.

I don't know if I saw the newer (1995) Village of the Damned, but I remember the original (1960).

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is currently having a 48 hour “Terrorthon”. Hopefully, many of these will end up on the TCM movie archive streaming channel. “Burn Witch Burn” is just starting…

First one must define "Horror movie", my mother took us to all the classics; Frankenstein, vampire, mummy, werewolf, dinosaurs, creature from the black lagoon, them and big spiders even Godzilla. Today its all super crazy people hacking up innocents. You can watch that scrap on the daily news. At 10years the creature onto had me so terrified I couldn't sleep. I like the classics.

There is a documentary called Memory on Peacock which is about the development of the Alien movie. It's very puffed up about itself (I was rolling my eyes at how over the top the interviewees could get). but still it was very interesting.
Meanwhile there are lists to look up, like this one: https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/best-horror-movies-of-all-time/ , and one could look for them on various streaming services. Quite a few highly rated ones I have never heard of.

You mean an hour from now? 🤣

I'll add that to my list.
