Nikon USA has a four-day weekend refurbished sale every six weeks or so. This weekend has a couple of remarkable offerings. First is the Z5 including a 24-50 kit lens for about $810 USD plus any sales tax due. It's a mighty low price for a relatively new full-frame mirrorless. The second is a heads-up for anybody seeking a smallish bridge camera. The B500 is well under $100 plus any sales tax. Also noteworthy is the price of the D5600. I don't like to read into what may or may not be going on at Nikon, but that makes me wonder about the end of the line for the B500 and D5600? I hope this is in the right place to post this?

I don't know about the B500 but I think Nikon doesn't make the D5600 any more. They just keep selling what they have in stock.

When I purchased a refurb directly from Nikon, I wasn't charged sales tax.

I believe it depends on your place of residence. In the US, each state is different, and possibly other countries may do so as well. Some require the vendor to collect sales tax while others don't, leaving it to the buyer to pay the tax. Here in PA, every dime they can get their fingers on gets sucked into the vortex. I checked the receipt for the P950 I bought a few weeks ago and sure enough, PA got their share.

Yes, according to what I see, both are out of production. Apparently, the B500/B600 were totally discontinued due to a lack of parts during the pandemic, and not completely due to poor sales. Anyway, if you're looking for a lot of camera for a little money, they still have a place on the shelf as long as supplies last, I guess? The Z5 is only three years old and that's a super price on that one.

My wife has been wanting a Z5 for a bit and that sounds like a great deal. Unfortunately all I see on Nikons website for refurbished is $1099.95 for the body and $1399.95 for the body and lens. I have searched high and low. Could you provide me a link to it? Thanks

I encounter the same situation as you did, every time someone posts about a hugely great Nikon refurb offer, and I go to Nikon USA to participate ... or try to participate.

I dont bother anymore, incuding this time.

Note that the sale is only on the body and lens option and the body only is not included in the sale. You just have to put things in your cart to see the actual price sometimes. You can go to the Nikon USA site anytime and check to see if there's anything on sale. First, "nikonusadotcom", then "Deals", then "Refurbished".

There is usually a sale price and then another 10% off during the refurbished sale, but this time the extra 10% is missing. I discovered that the B500 has no hot shoe or viewfinder, so even at $100 it's not much of a buy for me. Anyway, I checked the Z5 with a lens option and it's still there, and that is a great deal. Good luck!

Thank you it is a great deal for sure. I did not realize that the camera only shoots at 4 1/2 frames per second. That may be a deal killer for her. I’m going to talk to her about it. Does this deal end today? I couldn’t tell from looking at it on their website.

Yes, it ends today... IIRC, it may also include Monday? They usually run the refurb sale every six weeks or so, but the prices vary. I don't know much, but unless she shoots a lot of fast action, sports, etc, I'd say 4.5 was fine.

Hello UHH Friends;
I have been advised by more than one retailer that the DSLR is dead, (plus what I have been reading), and no more new cameras or lenses will be introduced by major manufacturers. As a result of the advanced technology of Sony, with Canon and Nikon now finally responding, mirrorless is our future. Used pricing on the D850 and D500, (the two Nikon premium DSLR top sellers), have gone south in the past few months which is an indication of the change in the market, as well as the future of professional technology. Planning for the future, I am on the list for the order of a new Nikon Zf mirrorless with two full-frame zooms; life will be good.

I was going to buy a B 500 as a spare camera. Then I read a review! Now I know why it is so cheap.
Cheers, Don

I just got an email three hours ago stating that this is the last day, so I'm guessing you have till midnight if you're still interested.

in many states refurbished is considered used. They dont charge sales tax on used merchandise in those states.. Then there are cars, thats a whole different story
