The Apple of My Eye

Over the last few days, I have been thinking what I could do with a single apple. The background are two different shots that I took on my morning walk. The leaves under the apple are from leaves that have fallen off the tree in front of my house. I used a single light under apple to give the base a bit of lighting. Combined all the layers and came up with this composite.

You made a nice job of the composite Frank - not sure about the colours though - do they clash a little?

Thanks Dave. I was trying to keep them in the various degrees of red. When I shot the two backgrounds shots I was looking for reds.

The apple sits in there pretty as you please. Very effective to my eye. What to do with a single apple ???? Eat it comes to mind, LOL. Creativity at its best Frank.

The apple is beautifuly lit, though I feel as Dave does about the competing reds. A closer crop in square format, leaving some background, makes the apple shine IMO.

An apple a day keeps the Doctor away. As the leaves change color the reds seem to stick out for me. Since I eat apples every day my mind went in that direction. I am always hunting for ideas. Some are more successful than others. I think this one is in the plus column.

The square mode is something I rarely if ever think of, but worth considering. As the leaves changed color here the reds seem to stick out. That got me thinking. I used two different leaves and shades of red for that reason. I didn’t want other colors to compete with the apple.

Thanks, I had the bright reds in mind when I was shooting to set up this composite.
