Your mention of Cave Springs brings back memories when I used to go through there between working at a power plant in Coosa and home (Marietta).
Cave Springs is or was a one light town. I have gone through it a few times over the years. I used to visit the Georgia School for the Deaf as a friend was the greenhouse manager at the school to teach young people a skill in growing plants (I found him years later after going through this town a couple of times)
I will never forget my first trip through there as I was headed home from Coosa, Georgia (there was a power plant at this location). One of the guys at the plant advised me to try this way as his sister lived in my area and went this way most of the time. When I got to a four way stop sign, the directions were not clear - right was Alabama as I recall, left was going back to Rome, GA which I did not want to go back to, so straight through was it. I went for a few miles until it dead-ended on to Booger Hollow Road (the name was ominous, so I chose to go back to the same 4 way stop and head towards Alabama and then turned south to Cedar Town).
