Hm, Do I burn more gas than the delivery person? I know; you can get it in the mail. But the first you have to trust the mail. And the person delivering the mail can’t advise me on my meds. As close as I am to the pharmacy, I can stop next door for groceries and stop at the gas station & auto parts store all on the same block.

Regardless of whatever I buy I much prefer going to the store and buy it rather than order by mail or online.

Right!

I live in North Georgia. When I moved here in the early 80's Rite Aid stores were everywhere. Then came CVS and after a few years Walgreen popped up. Today Rite Aid is long gone, CVS stores are fewer and fewer, Walgreens is also become harder to find.

Today there are numerous independents and specialty pharmacy's , but the "biggies" are Walmart, Kroger's, Publix, and Ingles. These supermarkets, along with a few Costco's, own the majority of pharmacy business in most of Georgia.

I use Humana medicare mail-order pharmacy, and they have pharmacists on staff who do the same thing. They actually informed my doctor that people with diabetes should be taking a statin even if they don't have high cholesterol.

I'll bet your doctor loved that.

I have worked for chain pharmacies. I have worked for local independents. The advantage of chains are they buy everything in bulk. Then they warehouse everything and distribute everything. Eehh! It is just a business.

The phrase, "Physician, heal thyself" comes to mind. The local store says it will be business as usual while the process continues. Rite-Aid will probably rearrange itself and stay in business. Without Rite-Aid, CVS will have more control of the market.

well, that seems to be the idea!
Kroger bought Safeway. Freedom from choice.
Who will win? CVS or Walgreens?

Get all mine at a local grocery store pharmacy. Shop for groceries while prescriptions are being filled. Or, most of mine are auto-filled, and I get a text when they are ready. And no long lines like CVS

That is what we do too. Vons Pharmacy.

Oh, so Safeway is part of Kroger. In the far West Safeway bought Vons and Albertsons Markets. I've never seen a Kroger in California, but I do remember a few Safeway as a young kid.

Used to have Safeway’s in Texas years ago, too. Don’t know if someone bought them out or they just left.

Aren't Rite-Aid, CVS, and Walgreens the three pharmacies who applied with FDA to be able to sell the abortion pill, to be able to be a part of the murder of the preborn innocent babies? As they say follow the money. I am reminded of Galations 6:7.

Just look at the names on the shelves.
All the generics were either one or the other.
Ralphs has been Kroger- no Safeway products- for years.
There were many store names near us- just franchises now- almost all Kroger or Safeway.
Those names are gone. The remaining *Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons) are all the same.
The local Rite-Aid stores tried to be mini Walmarts. Their med section is very small, and expensive.
Want braces, canes, whatever? Better go eBay.
BTW, I is gonna reiterate.
Didn't like Walmart for a while. I now get my pharmaceuticals there.
My insulin- $25 at Walmart. SAME bottle at CVS- add $100.
Vitamins and supplements are maybe half price.
Those other stores are passing the tipping point for consumers.
In this state, over 25% of prescriptions are left on the counter.
The "supply chain" problem is just bad management.
And I'm renewing my Costco card. Its them or Walmart anymore.

I know of three Safeways within 40 miles of where I live, Modesto, Turlock and Tracy and that is because I live in one city and frequent the other two.

We’re lucky to have a small independent pharmacy where we’ve known the proprietors and pharmacist forever, who delivers for free. Our copay is just a bit higher than an in-network chain, but I value the friendship and relationship of small brick and mortar locally owned business by our neighbors. Very “50s” I know, but I prefer it - I like to do business with friends and where I don’t need to fight my way through layers of robo answering to speak to a pharmacist.
