While we were up the river, (without a paddle I might add) We enjoyed a bit of Tern action. Photographing Terns is a mixed bag of joy and frustration. They can be incredibly fast and erratic when they want to be. Add to that that they are mostly white and photographing them in flight requires pointing the camera up.... But when it works its very satisfying.

Royal Tern and Fosters Tern, Both in Non-breading plumage.

I was very proud of myself to have filled the frame with the Royal Tern and not clipped off its wingtip. Truth be known I did clip them off in 2 out of 5 for that burst
