Any ideas on how to keep the strap from slipping off my shoulder. I have a fabric strap that I really like, and I want to sew or glue a piece of non-slip fabric to the center.
Suggestions welcome

Don't know whether or not such stuff is still available but how about the dimpled rubber you used to be able to get that went onto table tennis bats. Wouldn't even know where to start looking though.

Just a suggestion. Happy hunting.

For that problem I once used Contact Cement on the strap in about a foot area... Worked great....

P.S. - Let it dry before you use it.... :roll:

Two other things to help prevent slippage:

Our building supply store sells rolls of a rubberized material intended for lining drawers (I think). Except you'd have to buy a whole roll (15 inches wide, several feet long).

In a fabric store, possibly also at Michael's or JoAnne's, you can buy fabric, usually white, with little rubber spots on it, intended to be used on the soles of children's pyamas-with-feet. These pieces are often just large enough to cut two soles, so you won't be left with a huge piece afterwards.

I clip the front of the strap to the back strap with a short connector that goes under my arm. It totally ends the problem.

Joe:

I now use the OP/Tech Bino/Cam Harness in a webbing material. It does not hang on the shoulders but crosses across your back. You can easily slide the camera up to use and then slide it back down to walk around. It keeps the camera in front of you for easier access and protected from swinging around. I ordered mine from B&H for $12.00.

There are slip on covers for straps - I have them on my camera bag so you should be able to get them easily. A quick look on EBay showed this one as an example;

have to do it. How about joining a gyn?

I think the easiest way is to get a new strap.

I use this Op/Tech camera strap which gets a grip on my shoulder.

Another solution is to sew a large button on the shoulder of your vest or jacket.

Does that interfere with bringing the camera into play?

I use a Caden Sling from ebay for about $10.00 with free freight. I having been using mine for a busy year now and it is very comfortable and the strap is wide and padded to make carying a heavy DSLR with heavy lens all day better than any other strap I ever used in the past.

Go to the thrift store and look at bags/cases, etc...plenty of straps for very little money...use the strap u like , donate, or discard the rest of the item...CHEAP, as in frugal.
