Poster perfect picture

I took a very good picture that I would like to make into a poster for retail sale. Has anyone done this before? If so, how did you go about this? Are there companies to contact? Thanks!

I've enlarged favorites to poster size and framed them for gifts and also displayed them for sale. Are you asking how to sell to a retail establishment, or how to order the print that large?

Have one made at Costco to make sure your image will stand enlargement to a 24x36. Then any offset printing company or commercial photo lab can handle a bulk order.

I just had one made at CVS (like Walgreen's or Target) and the quality was quite nice and the price was perfect. $13.99 for a 16x20 with a matte finish. Was returned to me in a nice cardboard tube.

I'm with MT Shooter.......i go to Costco for my pics. Plus they (here in the Atl area) also offer the "Canvas" for an reasonable price. www.costco.com

I'm guessing that when they blow an image up to 24X36, they use some technology so it's not all pixellated and fuzzy, right?

Pixelation depends on the quality of the image not the printer. Some images will look fine on an 8x10 or even 16x20, but when you start to go bigger you need high resolution images to start with.

No technology needed with my D800's, smaller sensors may need something done with them. I have printed 24x36 from my D7000's also with excellent results, no pixelization at all. When I go 24x36 I always submit TIF images for printing, they seem to give the best results. I never print above 11x14 from a JPG file.
Here is a quick shot of a 24x36 that I had done with a Bleed Mat, its one of my large prints hanging in my home, print came from Costco.

I use a company called shortrunposters.com
Their price for an 18X24 is $2.97 per unit.
They charge $10 per order for shipping, so I
usually order 20 at a time to average the price
to $3.50 per unit. I sell train posters to a local
gift shop. Hope this helps out.

For years, we've had ads in this area (northeast) offering those electric heaters FOR FREE!!! All you have to do is buy one of their Amish fireplaces. They have several models available, from plain to not so plain. Kinda like getting a free Nikon camera strap when you buy a D800.
