Saguaro cactus “bones”. I’ve seen them while hiking behind Apache Junction. I seem to remember that people have used them for hiking poles, but where I was hiking you were not supposed to pick them up.

It doesn't look quite as intimidating in the photo but it must have taken me three seconds to come down again

Thanks for looking and commenting Pat. Actually this is a Cholla cactus skeleton. Saguaro ribs are solid and often used as walking sticks.

I stand corrected. I knew that but had them reversed. I have learned (personal experience) to stay away from a chola cactus or any parts of one that happen to be paying around on the ground.
