During World War II, the OSS sent Moe Berg to Europe, where he gathered intel on Germany’s efforts to build an atomic bomb

Morris “Moe” Berg in 1933. Dubbed the “brainiest man in baseball” due to his knack for languages and quick wit, the catcher joined the OSS in 1943. Bettmann via Getty Images

You should read the book. To make it short he had a photographic memory, the OSS had him study nuclear physics. He parachuted into Germany (pretty gutsy for a Jew to solo jump into Nazi Germany) and joined the team that was already there.
