Nitro Pro, Anyone?

I've been using Nitro Pro for creating and working with PDF documents. I like the ways it works, but I've run into a problem. I want to combine twenty-three PDFs into one document. I put all the files into a folder and numbered them 01 - 22. I brought them into Nitro Pro and then clicked Next to combine them. It does combine all of them, but in a random order. I see no way to have them in numerical order.

I could simply print all the pages and then rearrange them, but I'd rather find out how to get the program to put them in the correct order.

Any ideas?

Did you "add" them in the order you like?
Did you select all and add, or add one at a time?
Some programs are funny that way.

I tried adding them individually and as a group from a folder. In both cases, they appeared correctly in the "Add" window. When I click to combine them, they appear in random order. Every time I try this, the order is different, despite the fact that they are numbered. I'll keep searching on YouTube, but they seem to explain everything but what I want.

Can you add the initial file (first), save, add the second, save, ...
Hopefully it would do an append.
More work, but if it works until you find an answer.

My first thought was you were going to discuss using some high level Nitro-methane in your car!

I've had good luck using Ice Cream PDF Split & Merge (https://icecreamapps.com/PDF-Split-and-Merge/). It's a free program.

Thanks. I can merge only three documents for free. Beyond that, I have to pay $50 for Pro. If that doesn't work, I'm out $50.

The Workaround. I can combine only three files at a time, so that's what I did. I combined three into one. Then I combined that one with two others, etc. Eventually I wound up with all the files, in order, in one PDF.

Thank you!

Jerry,

I use an open source PDF tool set named PDF24 from https://www.pdf24.org/en/.

It has a tool for about anything you could want to do to a PDF at no cost.

I tried it's merge function just now and the file order was maintained in the order I selected them.

I have found the Adobe PDF software to be worth it (I have the lower level/cheaper) versions… have had for many years… and I often put multiple files together and it always keeps them in order.

Is it adding them by date?

Good question. That would be odd, but I'll check. Actually, no, it isn't because a file I had just made up was placed a couple of pages down.

Thanks. I'll take a look. I tried several PDF editors before I bought Nitro. The others could not things I wanted to do, but Nitro could. I've never had this out-of-order problem before. Odd.

EDITED: Funny. Before downloading, I did a search, and I already have it in my Downloads folder. I'll have to install it.

Another technique I often use is making a document in WordPerfect and the clicking on "Publish to PDF."

No idea about your specifics, but somewhere in the past I had trouble with just numbers, so I name my files such as:
Subject.01 opening(optional?).pdf
Subject.02 index.pdf
Subject.03 etc.pdf
I do not think the word after the number was needed, but I use them.
