i always shoot in P, after i view the results, i switch 2 aperatues steps down? shutter speed depends on the A? Exposure Triangle , no? i've owned my cameras some years now as a hobbyist.
I have a bad habit not using words but #s? i'll try to break the habit using short cuts.

As you don't say 'what was working a while ago' the only suggestions I can give you are,

a) It's busted,
or
b) You are using it incorrectly,

If you think your shutter is too slow try shutter priority mode. TV is the setting and see what shutter speed it is you are shooting at. You can increase the shutter speed manually that way. Give us an example of what you are trying to shoot, the time of day, and the camera settings when shooting

There once was a camera with four shutters,
Unfortunately, the photographer who was a lanky sort always stutters…….

But we still don't know if the camera is broken or the OP just doesn't know how to use it.

Perhaps he isn't wrapped too tight. Do you think he doesn't realize that there is more than one shutter speed on that camera? LOL

This is what I was going to suggest, use mode Tv. Set it to a faster speed than what the camera decided when it was too slow. 1/125 or even better, 1/250 should work.

The P and Av modes will set the shutter speed (Tv) it needs to get enough light with the aperture and ISO set as you selected. I doesn't care if that is too slow. The darker the subject, the worse the slow speed.

I'm going inside to get into TV mode right now. I have some good horror movies in my Watchlist.
