I don't know if this is the right section for this question. the Post Processing Forum didn't seem to be.

At our church we need a print-ready graphics program like Photoshop, but at a reasonable cost, to create our bulletins. Free would be best! I am not the graphic designer so only sharing her request in the words she used. I'm sending her a link to Affinity which looks promising. Does anyone recommend it?

Thanks in advance for any advice. You folks always come through when folks need guidance.

Affinity Photo is a good app, but for free, you'll have to look at the GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program.) Neither are Photoshop, but both will work. Both also have a learning curve similar to Photoshop's. Photoshop Elements is the light, non-subscription (not free) version of Photoshop, used mainly by amateurs, but highly effective. You might also try Photopea, a free online editor.

Have you tried OpenOffice? You can insert photos, as well as text. It is free... as is LibreOffice, and Doxillion. They have several formats to choose from.

If you're running Windows, you have Paint 3D. If your just looking for graphics, it's free and easy.

MS Word can be used to create church bulletins by inserting stock graphics, scanned art or photographs. I do graphics work for a couple of organizations for programs, posters, flyers, etc. The products I produce include graphics, text, and images. I use PowerPoint almost exclusively for putting those products together. It is a very versatile application and has a short learning curve for neophytes. However, if you anticipate using a graphics program for creating original art or as a drawing tool in creating a product, it may not be near as useful. Your church could subscribe to Office 365 if it doesn’t already have the MS Office suite of products, which includes PowerPoint and Word.
