Here is the Gator bag...won't go on your back...but has a strap and handle for on and off and carrying short distances. Extremely well built...overbuilt in fact.

I use a Topeak MRX Trunk bag on a rack on the back of my bike. It will hold my body (Nikon D500) and a Sigma 15-600 Cont. lens (disconnected from body). If you use the side panniers, you could fit a ton of gear. The main compartment is pretty well protected if you fall but the panniers are subject to impact.

How do you protect your camera gear from vibration when using the rack on your bike?

Topeak trunk bag is padded. stuff a towel in for extra security.

If a compact like LUMIX ZS or TC series, almost any handlebar bag will work. That’s what I use on my road bike. For heavier/larger cameras like you describe, I’d definitely consider a sling, a backpack, or Topeka or Bontrager rear rack configuration. Putting any size mirrorless or dslr and extra lens off the handlebars can be/will be tricky because unless the weight is centered, it will definitely effect your ride especially at slower speeds. Been there, done that.

I would suggest finding a bag that will not only protect your equipment while riding your bike, but also when crashing and bouncing along the road. (Sorry, I just couldn't resist)

These hold camera, extra lens, water bottle, and have room for small notebook, extra battery, and Magic/Miracle/Wonder cloth. Wear as waistpack or toss it over a shoulder. $I think I found this on Craigslist for $10-15. Don't pay more.

I bought this bag for the same reason, easy to sling over my shoulder when on my bicycle shooting in the city. I also have a cotton carrier but prefer my gear to be protected while riding the bike.

This bag hold my Z7 plus. a lens and has a few pockets for batteries and memory cards etc. I could not get the link to copy, but do a search at amazon for:

I used an army surplus ‘musette bag’ for years. I think it was $5 at the time. Now they call these ‘courier bags’.

Strap went over neck and shoulder. As long as I kept the strap short it didn’t interfere with pedaling.

On inclement days, or in the expectation of dusty roads the gear went into plastic bags.

If I carried a second lens I might throw in a rag and wrap it around the second lens for some padding.

Sorry I did not respond earlier, but I was on a trip and just got back yesterday. I am using either a Canon 80D or 6D Mark ll with a 24-105 lens, 18-400mm lens and 70- 300 lens. Thank you for your advice

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a bag or some other protective method that I could wear to protect a camera and extra lens while bicycling. TIA

I think the first question you have to ask yourself is do you want the camera readily available so that you can stop and quickly take a picture or will you have time to stop, get off your bike and unpack a bag attached to your bike either in front or behind you. If you want it readily available, get something to attach the camera to your chest. If you have more time, then Amazon sells all kinds of bicycle mounted bags for $20-$40. I'm sure you can find one to fit your needs.
