Amazon ... "Customer Service"

I've been an Amazon Prime ever since they created "Prime", and in general, rather happy. Until now.

I purchased a product that a local dealer has confirmed as fraud. I started on a Monday morning to obtain a "Return Label". Amazon said they were having technical problems. After several hours, I called "Customer Service". I was told by someone in the Philippines that there is nothing they can do, except to tell me to call back in 4 hours. I did, and received the same message, except this time, I was told that it was -my- job to call back ever four hours. The employee, when asked, told me she was in the Philippines. Okay, every four hours, when asking to return a purchase, the screen said: "Return service not available".

On Tuesday, I saw the same "out of service", and the "Customer Service" told me ... yes, that it was my job to call every four hours. Only this time, the "Customer Service" was in the Caribbean. I'm not challenging the use of foreign countries to assist customers, but when I've asked to be returned to the USA, I only hear "we cannot do that".

After doing this for 48 hours, I needed peace, so I dropped the product into a trash dumpster. By the way, the product was a watch. It cost me only $ 161, but one must ask: Is this what we should expect in the future?

My son has been having problems with AMAZON delivery of purchases. His packages have been opened (outside label read that it was coming from NIKE), what they didn't know until they opened it, was that they were sneakers for his 1 yr. old niece. He's had an outfit he bought for her from NIKE be delivered to someone 20 miles away and has yet to receive it. AMAZON apparently is hiring a bunch of dishonest delivery people. " What the world has come to, a lot of followers of the devil instead of the Lord !"

You put a smile on my face, about who the delivery drivers are following.

Here in St. Louis, I have all of our packages delivered to a local hardware store. The owner insisted on helping us, since delivery to a home door is almost guaranteed to be stolen.

Packages delivered by UPS and FedEx have worked well. In fact with Amazon drivers have worked well too. The very disappointing delivery is by USPS. To the hardware store is fine, since they have a "regular" driver, and a good one. But to our home??? In our neighborhood, the mail delivery by USPS is a crap shoot. You know you won't get your mail 6 of 6 days, but 4, and our neighbors will get our mail the other two days. Some weeks, mail is miss-delivered regularly. In fact, we've changed all of our bill paying over to paperless billing. We want USPS to have nothing to do with our mail. Isn't that horrible?

If you paid by credit card you should be able to get reimbursed. Most cards have a guarantee against fraud.

Yes, only $161. I'm a watch 'collector'?? When we took annual cruises, I would buy a watch onboard of the ship, to easily remember where we were. Or maybe from a jeweler in the major city, like a jeweler at the base of the Spanish Steps in Rome. Now, none of those were $161, and I'm okay with the more costly watches. They last longer too. But we don't do cruises any more, so a "I miss a new watch" drive is what inspired me to purchase a Tissot, at that shockingly low price. The one I already owned was $695 in the Netherlands. So I was curious about a $161 Tissot. Well, my local jeweler who I trust a great day told me it was her opinion that it was a fake. So, I'd just return it. Well, Amazon dropped the ball badly, so I'll be far more careful when purchasing anything from Amazon, with a goal of *something that I'll never need to return it, and *something that will never require "Customer Service". Overall, we're pleased with Amazon, but ... wow, don't any do something that might call for so-called "Customer Service".

$161.00 is not trivial. They should be held accountable.

I agree. But I guess it is to the OP.

When I want to return something, I just go the login page and in the upper left corner is "Orders and Returns ". I click on that and find the listing of the item I'm returning and click on that to get the return command. Clicking on that gets me a return label and registers that I'm going to return the item. It gives me the return shipping label and asks the facility I want to use to return the item. I can't remember when it was any different.

Actually getting the return label has never ever been a problem in the past. I was in a bad mood when I had my suspicion confirmed that the watch was a fraud. Then starting Monday morning, learning "due to computer problem, return processing cannot be accomplished". But what really angered me was their out-of-the-country ""Customer Service"" telling me it was my job to call back, every four hours, for two solid days. I've been happy with Amazon, I truly have. I just need to remind myself to never every called their alleged Customer Service.

BTW, that was the second time that I've been extremely disappointed with an Amazon purchase. Wanting to save my fellow UHH members, if you are as involved with home audio, as I am, should you ever consider a purchase of a Brennan B3 audio process, save yourself $779. Don't cringe when I tell you that I have more than 1,000 CDs on my library wall here in my den. The ""Brennan B3"" claims that you can store you entire collection, then access the ones at any time. And by the way, on his website, this """"Dr. Brennan""" brags about his product. DON'T CONSIDER IT. I liked the idea, but it comes with virtually no instructions. There is a short 'flip card', and then it states that IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, GO TO THE Q&A CENTER OF MY WEBSITE TO FIND YOUR ANSWER. As some of you already know, I teach college physics, and I've worked for 15 years at a radio station. So, tech is not a problem. But this ""Dr.Brennan" sells these through Amazon. I wish Amazon would look more closely at what they sell before posting them.

Yes it’s horrible and the price of postage continues to climb. A lot of times there’s only one postal employee in the post office. It’s “All” signs of the time. Everything is worse, as the devil is mad that his time is winding up. So he’s wreaking havoc on everything thing in everything area of our lives.

I guess I'm one the lucky ones. I have had great success with Amazon itself and thier customer service. I had a problem with two venders one of which was resolved in my favor and the other wasn't worth pursuing.

Did you order with a credit card. The credit card probably has a program that would protect you from fraud.

Amazon "prime" is utilizing independent delivery people or companies to do deliveries. They are independent, not employees. They buy their own trucks and paint them to meet hiring requirements. Wear "prime" uniforms per the contract, per the contract, but not Amazon employees.
