I feel mirrorless cameras are overall better. But, you're considering a sports / wildlife specific model, and paying a price premium for all the features of this model specific to these usage needs. You probably have better choices, including not giving up on the EOS 80D. It's your money to spend as you desire, but it's always sad to see someone succumb to GAS when other ideas are present, representing better and more thoughtful choices.
First of all I don't have GAS syndrome and I'm not ready to pull the trigger and purchase. I am investigating and looking towards the future. My 80d is also wildlife/sports oriented so it doesn't seem like much of a leap if I purchase the R7 in the future. I appreciate the input very much.
