I'm interested in any solid information about the Lumix camera model with the 700mm focal length spread. I'm interested in knowing the model name, whether it shoots in both RAW and JPG, its ISO range, your level of satisfaction with the images, whether you can adjust the exposure settings yourself, and the current price of the model. Thank you in advance for your help.

Is this an interchangeable lens camera, or a point-and-shoot, or a travel zoom camera?

Generally, you can search Panasonic's site. https://shop.panasonic.com/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras/

Once you find a model you think will work, go search for reviews of it on https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/

Then search for reviews of the same models on YouTube.

Also look it up on bhphotovideo.com, adorama.com and other dealer websites.

That would be the Lumix TZ90 (ZS70 in the US) or one of its older versions.

What Bill at Burkphoto said!

Since you have signed as "Traveller_Jeff", I would suggest starting with their 4/3rds system. With OM bodies and lenses being interchangeable for all basic functions, a Lumix 4/3rds body gets you a 120+ lens selection (Panasonic and OM). Size, weight, and cost wise, it has been designed for travel.

But the full frame system is great too. All Panasonic, Sigma, and Leica lens are interchangeable on that system. This gives you a variety of levels for cost and quality. And the Lumix full frame is doing very well within the industry even thought it was not that long ago that it was started.

And Panasonic is one of the only point-and-shoot manufacturers left with high quality and marks for their cameras.

Start with Bill's list of directions and keep a good list of what you really want from your camera. Your next camera might be the Lumix.

Burkphoto uses Lumix Cameras. I have Olympus bodies but several Lumix lenses. Certainly, Lumix cameras have many fine features.

What is the deal with 700mm? Is this a full frame equivalent focal length? I have micro 4/3 lenses from 3mm (Fish eye) to 300mm. Certainly there are a few lenses with a bit longer focal length. It takes quite a bit of photographic experience to successfully use super long focal length lenses.

I've been photographing with a variety of cameras, currently exclusively with Nikon, for over sixty years. I'm interested only in the one model about which I've heard so much, yet not enough. My current go-to camera is the D850. (I also own the D7100, D500 and D5). The lens I'm using is the nikkor 28-300mm that I recently acquired from a fellow Hogger.

All my various cameras and lens combinations are rather heavy. I'm looking for a very lightweight camera that would fit in my pocket yet offer me a huge range of zoom lengths for an upcoming trip on which I'm determined to travel as light as possible. The Lumix model I heard about fits that description.

Could also be a ZS100 or 200. I used one for a while cuz you really can carry it just about anywhere. With its 1 inch sensor, IQ is remarkable for a pocketable camera, and it does offer everything the OP asked about. Ergonomics are pretty good but definitely compromised by crowding so much into a pocket camera.

No really huge complaints for me. The worst is that the minimum stop is f/8.0 but I got used to that. Acoarst I tend to forgive its smaller imperfections cuz it costs only half the $$ of a Sony.

In the end I just shelved it. I didnt need such extreme reach, but do love extreme wide angle, so I prefer a very small m4/3 ... just a bit bigger but suits me better.

Check out the Lumix ZS95 (TZ80) - 720 max zoom, small sensor, the Sony HX99 -same, slightly shorter max zoom, or the Lumix ZS 100 - 1 inch sensor, zoom to 250 or the ZS 200 - 1 inch sensor and about 350mm zoom. Of course there is the Olympus Stylus 1s (used) - 1-1/12 sensor, zoom to 300mm, f2.8 all the way, or the Sony RX100 vi or vii - 1 inch sensor, zoom to 200mm

I used the Lumix the OP has (probably) described with a 700mm zoom spread. It needs verrrrry minimal photo skill to use it as tourist or snapshot device. Its not 100% foolproof but gets pretty close to that. Its a really successful design for its intended users. Theres no "quite a bit of photographic experience" required.

It is the Lumix ZS70 or the upgrade, ZS 80, which is a point and shoot camera. I owned one, but traded it in for a ZS200, another Lumix point and shoot, which only has a 360 mm telephoto range, but has a larger sensor (1") than the ZS70. I also have a Fuji mirrorless cameral with multiple lens, but wanted something compact to take on a cruise down the Rhine River in July.

As others have written, the ZS70 and ZS80 are the two Lumix P&S cameras with the 720 mm (equivalent) lens. My wife had a ZS70 and sold it because she could never get the sharpness she hoped for. She bought two cameras to replace it. One is the Sony RX10 for when the travels may present "wildlife" opportunities. The other is the (now discontinued) Lumix LX100II with the M4/3 sensor for "urban" travel and everything else.

I re-read my previous post - Boy, did I screw that one up. The ZS80 is the TZ95, and the Olympus Stylus 1s has a sensor somewhat smaller then 1 inch. Oh well. Be careful as I was not.

Thank you.
I recently discovered the camera about which I had read and this is what I had been looking for:
PANASONIC LUMIX ZS80 20.3MP Digital Camera, 30x 24-720mm Travel Zoom Lens, 4K Video, Optical Image Stabilizer and 3.0-inch Display – Point & Shoot Camera with Lecia Lens - DC-ZS80K (Black)

It costs around $420. I mght get it and try it out just for the focal length range and the sharpness of its lens. My brother-in-law has posted many incredible shots of hawks devouring their prey in the middle of Stuyvesant Town in New York City. Each one looks like he'd been almost on top of the action when the shots were actually taken a considerable distance from the action.

I've got a Lumix DC-ZS80 which sounds like what you are describing. It has a Leica designed 24-720 equivalent lens. It shoots RAW, JPG and I think TIFF. I always use RAW. ISO 200-3200. It has P (Program mode), S (Shutter priority), A (Aperture mode) and M (Manual mode). It has several programing modes and you can make your own custom programs, It has video and a live viewfinder option (you will get much more steady images holding it to your face instead of arms length). you can also use it remotely with a downloadable app. There is no filter holder but you can use a JJC RN-RX100VI on it for that purpose. There are also a variety focus grids for it. It and its smaller brother the DMC-ZS-100 are my day to day cameras fitting together nicely in a cargo pocket on my pants. I've printed up to 24 x 30 images from both of these cameras and more routinely print 11x14 and 16x20s. The only drawbacks to me are the harsh flash and no sync port. I put a couple of layers of clear frosted tape over the flash and the unit easily fires my slave flashes. As for price please do your own research. I highly recommend both of these cameras.

I believe you are referring to the DMC-ZS70. The DC-ZS80 is similar. You can read all about them here:
