Connecticut State Troopers - Big Trouble

Over 300 CT State Troopers have entered more 26,000 phony tickets and 32,000 erroneous tickets into the state's computer system. After writing a ticket, they enter the info into two databases. Unfortunately, the second database contains thousands more entries than the first, and the two databases don't agree with what was entered into each. The purpose of the second database is to keep track of racial profiling. This racial DB has over 20,000 extra entries for White drivers who received tickets at midnight. "Midnight" is the first entry in the pull-down menu. This situation goes back seven years, and no one noticed the discrepancy between the two databases.

There seems to be two reasons for all these entries by the 300+ troopers: to get pay and promotions for writing lots of tickets; to show that White drivers are getting most of the tickets. The governor has called for the firing of those involved. This is going to be a mess.

This report is completely misleading.

No one was issued fake or false tickets.

The issue is what appears to be the falsifying of race related data in response to the tracking of white vs non-white profiling to satisfy the "Connecticut Racial Profiling Prohibition Project."

You-Tube...another great and reliable news source.

No, no, no! Over 300 state police entered more than 32,000 erroneous tickets into the state database.

The "erroneous" classification is the entry of subject tickets into the data base for the profiling project and has nothing to do with the validity of the infractions. The numbers you're quoting have in no way been verified.

Most know that Google is not always your friend and you really should read some of the sources that are contradictory to the point trying to be made.

Infractions are not the issue. The police entered correct information into one database and false information into another. My source was not Google. It was Lehto's Law, a lawyer on YouTube, and several reports by news organizations. There were two types of false reports: changes made to ticket information and totally made-up tickets - White people at midnight.

Your original inferences were baseless and that is the point I made.

BTW, you referenced Google and had you read the provided sources from your referenced source, perhaps the click-bait would have been more factual.

You essentially repeated the facts I pointed out in my original post.

This CBS news report stated the tickets were issued to made up people and no one was fined. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/connecticut-state-police-fake-traffic-tickets/

I think Jerry has been quite clear. No one was actually fined.
Without getting into veracity, if true, I would not want 300 officers fired for it. But the system needs cleaning up.

The phony tickets were a coverup for the fact that a disproportionate number of real tickets were issued to POC, and the implication is that there was racial profiling behind traffic stops. Every trooper who entered phony tickets was violating the civil rights of those who were stopped.

So basically Connecticut has a CRPPP program and as usual the CRPPP is causing problems.

The program isn't doing anything.
