For me, the photo evokes memories of my life in the telephone company climbing poles and deciphering wire runs. Yes, it’s busy but it shows the reality of life’s modern conditions. A true “street scene”.

Glad you enjoyed, Jack. Can you describe what makes it feel 3D?

Sure, DOF maybe. It feels like that if I could step into my monitor I could walk all the way to the mountains instead of walking into a 2D wall.

I guess I can see this as art, or a sense of place, but it sure doesn’t excite me like most of your posts do. I can’t get a sense of peace, or tranquility, or anything. Nor can I ignore all those wires! I guess I too am overly compulsive about those things!

Neat! While I was awaiting your reply, I tried to figure out the possibilities. Am thinking the dark foreground contrasting to very light hills is the primary reason for the feeling of depth (3D), along with the lines of the road markings and the telephone poles all receding to the distance also.

Reminds me of an old vintage postcard. Fascinating to look at, could have been taken 50 years ago. I don’t think the Yakima Valley Visitors Guide will be contacting you for the photo!
Actually makes me want to head for the mountains! Even though it was taken in the fall it looks like a hot and dry morning in the dry side of Washington State. Of course I am probably being influenced by the hot and dry weather right now!

Thanks for your visit, Linda! Alas, I fear you are correct about the Visitor Guide

Stay cool!

If I had seen this scene, I probably wouldn't have raised my camera because of all the wires. And if I did take the picture, I'd immediately think about trying to remove all those wires...

No...I think the wires add to the reality of the scene. I really like it!

I like the image very much, but the very top wire distracts for me. I would crop it out or remove it by clone.

I like it just as you captured it, you captured the moment, and I like the way the background, the hills, and all that just add to the scene so I get a picture of what you were exactly looking at no need to clean up across anything you captured it as is and that’s what I like.

Delighted you enjoyed, Bruce. It's educational and enjoyable to read the variety of reactions. I'm always interested to know what people like or don't like - and why.

Thinking about those wires I previously wanted gone…
In other countries, like China and Vietnam, they have masses of wires over the streets and I happily photographed them. So I’m vacillating about these!
