When I came down this morning, my computer was running. I asked my son about it, and said that it turned on just before I came downstairs. Is my computer developing AI?

This one has turned itself on before. After checking everything I could find online about that, I could find no reason. I think it's just learning my schedule and eliminating my waiting time.
It had been off for over twelve hours.

I got an email from Spectrum saying there was an outage in my area, but it didn't affect our house. One of the causes of a turn-on is a power outage, but we didn't have that, either. I don't have Fast Start turned on.
Maybe AI was installed in you?

At this point, I'd be glad to accept any additional intelligence, artificial or not.

It has been over twenty years since I had a computer that would turn back on after the AC Power goes out. Mine go off (controlled crash off) during a electrical power outage and stay off until manually restarted. That is the way you want it. I remember friends having computers back in the day that if repeatedly turned on and off the O/S software and power supply transformer could be damaged.

It is Windows setting. I have Win10 pro and the setting is on mine, turned off of course.
I'll turn mine on when I need to use it.

Mine is on 24/7 with the exception of an occasional restart. I've done that for many years. No wireless connection. I ran a 70 foot ethernet cable up and around windows, doors and through three walls.
