There has been an earlier report that Canon may issue a firmware update post 18.1. Any news on that front? Thanks.
When you go to the support section for this model on the Canon website, what did you find available?

What is the r5 1.8 1 firmware update?
Canon EOS R5 Firmware Update Version 1.8.1 Released ...
Firmware Version 1.8. 1 incorporates the following fixes and enhancements: [IBIS High-Resolution Shooting] has been added to the menu. By utilizing the in-body image stabilization mechanism, it is now possible to record images with a higher sense of resolution.Mar 30, 2023
Update 18.1, which I have downloaded. But I thought the rumour mill has it that a firmer update will be issued with significant operational improvements- including pro shot.

1.8.1, as I understand it, is considered by many to be a major disappointment and underwhelming. Hi res IBIS shooting that yields 400meg images seems to be about all it accomplishes, besides those elusive “misc updates.” Anticipated focus improvements didn’t happen.

https://youtu.be/aHXpuDI9P0EYou can't please all the people all the time. I guess if you don't get all you want plus, it sucks.
