Jpg Data file.
I recently purchased a used D500 and I have noticed that the Jpg date file is showing that the author of the pics is someone other than myself. Is there any way of changing this without having to edit each individual pic?

Check the manual, and edit the data which is automatically recorded. While I used to do this in-camera, I now let LrC handle this task. Best of luck.

In the Setup menu on the second page, go to Copyright Information. Verify that "On" is selected and that the name marches the one you are seeing. If so, simply edit that field, replacing the name with your own.
Consult your downloaded PDF copy of the D500 User's Manual, pages 304-306 for relevant instructions.

Thank you very much for this.

Will the paper manual work as well?

Cameras bought used often do not come with a manual.
Reset the camera to factory defaults, then add your own name as author & copyright

Some of the newer cameras of some brands (Nikon?) do not come with a printed paper manual, you have to download (PDF) it or read it off the company's WEB site.

There should be a menu selection for that... Read The *Fine* Manual for the details. Most of the time, how to do it is not obvious.
Manuals are available in PDF form for download from manufacturers' support pages, if your used D500 didn't come with a paper copy.
One comment..."Do a factory reset" is a standard knee-jerk response to problems on this forum. Please do not get into that habit with your D500. It is unnecessarily brutal, erasing almost all of your custom setup configuration, will many times not fix the problem, and if it should happen to do the fix, you will never know what was initially the source of the trouble. It is much better to do a little diagnosis on your own, ask some questions, identify the real, underlying problem, and fix it once and for all. If it should happen again, you will know exactly what to do.
