Thanks Jerry, that's literally the funniest thing I've seen in the last 1/2 hour.

Another thing that annoys me is when I thank someone for something and get "no problem" as a response. What happened to the old "Your Welcome"?

Well that would be wrong too. It should be You're, not your.

Agreed. But we have to add the tendency to (and not just the youngsters) begin a sentence with "so." Why? It adds nothing to the context.

Sad thing is, you hear it far too often during interviews, that should have smart people on, and often do have smart people on, and sooooo often, I hear them begin their answer to a question with... So, ...and I cringe at that, even on NPR, I quite often hear that.

That's not all their lacking, the list would be to long here.

You should be using the word They're and not what you wrote, "Their".

Come on guys, start getting it together yourselves, if you wish to complain about correct language use.

Another annoyance is when people use "A" when they should be using "An".

When you said "like" did you mean "similar"? (The opportunity presented itself and was too good to ignore.)

Hey, how about the phrase "you know". How many times has that phrase been beaten to death and yet still being resurrected by the younger set. My sister always used this phrase so I told her, "no, I don't". it got her so flustered that she would loose her train of thought, more likely derailed. It was always fun to do this.

Ya know what I'm talkin' bout?

My pet peeve is, “you know what am I’m saying”. And it’s used multiple times in the course of a conversation. Once while speaking with some one he used that term. I told him I didn’t understand. It stopped him dead in his tracks. Then proceeded to look at me like I had two heads. And this guy was far from being from the younger generation.

Does not matter how you want to phrase the problem , they are not getting with the program in many areas beyond correct language. Example, can't even PRINT their own name at 14 so you can read it.

'enry 'iggins nailed it in "My Fair Lady" when he complained about the degrdation of correct English when he referred to "...the cold blooded murder of the English lanuage." I personally have no problems with English grammer as I have a live-in adviser, my wife, who taught English grammer for 19 years though I must admit that I still have to stop and think about it when it comes to the possessive case.

Has anyone else noticed the lack of vocabulary in the younger generations? They nearly all seem to converse in Valley speak. The word “like” will be used several times in the same sentence and to me it’s just damn annoying.
I think that from now on I’m going to ask them if they mean “similar” every time they say that word. Just to screw with them.

In the 60’s and 70’s we used “like” and “UMM” so much our parents and teachers would correct us regularly

You missed "to" instead of "too".

Unfortunately, the grammar I learned in school has been changed and is not considered incorrect. I still go by it, though. They don't have a right to make what I was taught wrong.
