Okay, I had everything right on the process of upgrading. But, when I tried to activate the file, my choices were Cancel or the no choice gray out. I finally won the battle by using a single wheel selection and I now have the 1.8.2 on my R6. Let me know if you encounter the same problem.

I am mindful of the need to upgrade firmware. I would like to know by the manufacturer what the firmware installation will do to my camera and me. My recent installation improved that my camera will go into a “sleep” mode so that it doesn’t drain the battery by having the rear screen and the LCD panel always lit.

Scruples, Thanks for your reply. I was hoping the new upgrade firmware for the R6 would allow me to use my wi-fi and bluetooth; no such luck so far. I wondering if the "sleep mode" would cause my camera to shut down and thus shut down the connecting with my Canon phone App. You have to wonder how much the Canon tech designers spend checking the wi-fi and bluetooth + phone app in the real world of outdoor photography. Maybe the R6 II has corrected the remote connection problems.

While I don’t have an R6 I had heard of some hackers using the wi-do access to load ransomware onto you camera. I don’t really use the wireless transfer but I want to avoid it at all costs. If you load new firmware the camera changes slightly more improved

Scruples, Okay thanks for this info. It makes the third party remotes look even better. I did successful load the new firmware but will try to avoid the Wi-Fi ransomware possibilities.

Just rotate the set wheel to the right and you will instantly have access to the upload. Otherwise, you will get the Cancel or gray out choice.
