Great scenery and monochrome work Dave.

Great shots. I’ve never been there and have doubts I ever will so I’m seeing it through your eyes. Consider yourself the next Ansel Adams.

For several years I lived about an hour from Yosemite and managed to visit in several seasons. I cannot think of a place where black and white is more striking. Excellent photos!

Colour would have been SO much better.
I appreciate your comment, but I find it interesting, there are more positive comments on this set of B&W shots than either of the two pages of color shots.
I convert many of my shots to B&W because it is how I really started my experience in photography with B&W and it gives me a feeling of nostalgia. Back then it was partially because I could shoot so much more as B&W film was more affordable and I really enjoyed the process of Developing and Printing my shots.
Also, most of the photographs of Yosemite that I have seen are from "Old School" photographers who shot in B&W so I can see what my shots look like against my view of what it looked like years ago.
But I can only speak for myself. I would like to hear from those that have commented and find out what it is about B&W that moves you to like them so much.

My guess as to why I like these, are the so many contrasts and textures that the B&W brings out. The fact that I rarely see B&W that I like, brought me to comment. I will be visiting there April next spring, so your post adds another dimension to what I can do with my "in the future" photography there.
I agree with what Doug said. I really like all of your shots. The B&W are striking because they are different. And they truly are quite beautiful. My thought when I saw them was "how appropriate." It's a very grey place, so using shades of grey really makes sense.
